|
|
I know this has been asked before, but you know the search function doesn't work.
I'm from the US and want to add pages to my passport in Korea.
http://seoul.usembassy.gov/add_pages.html
The link says I can go in person to have it done, which is pretty much impossible, or I can mail it to the embassy. Do I have to use the one courier service on the website, or would ordinary Korean mail be fine? |

i think it's just as easy to use the courier service listed.
When I added extra passport pages, there was no charge. |

Got a public school gig in Korea with 3 to 4 months of paid time off. |

* bump*
Okay, anyone else?
I guess I could go in person in early December when I have a few days off during the week . . .
if I use the courier service on their site, would I have to arrange to have them pick it up and drop it off at my school or home? As a student it's a little awkward, and as one for whom it's tough to get back home during the afternoon, that's tough. I assume I can specify a pick-up time on the website? That is, I won't be home mornings or most afternoons. Anyone have experience with tihs?
I would have done it back home, but it takes 4-6 weeks, as opposed to 24 hours here. Way to go.
I love how the Embassy gives a courier website that's entirely in Korean. I can figure it out, but what the hell, do they need to take every procedure and make it six times harder for us? |

| where are you planning on traveling to? if you are going to a city with an embassy maybe its easier to just do it there. i have added pages in bangkok and it took less than an hour for them to get it done. i've seen it done faster in beijing. |

I used the courier service to do it last year. 20k won return from the very south up to Seoul.
Took about 5 days. My gf called the courier and they picked it up from school, so perhaps you could have a coworker or someone call the courier service for you? |

| Well, maybe I can just have somebody at the school arrange for it to be picked up and delivered from there. I'm not travelling anywhere, but I'm down to about one empty page. In the US it takes 4 - 6 weeks, so I figured I might as well do it here, rather than deal with that crap back home. |

Funny you are all posting about this...I just got an email from the US embassy on Friday of last week. You can now order them online and have extra passport pages shipped to you here. Its free...not sure how it works, but here's the website.

Wow. Thanks a ton as you just saved me 20k won by not having to send it up to Seoul.
Big thanks. And note to self about actually reading the embassy emails! |

Ah, no, the above does not work. All it does it generate the form you mail off. I actually remember reading about that in the embassy email now, about the form generator and all. Rereading the email and that's all it states. Nothing about sending the pages to you.
You still have to mail your passport to Seoul to get the pages added. Bummer, but I guess that makes sense. |
