|
|
Got a big interview tomorrow with a Korean manager at Kia Motors here in Georgia. I'm applying for a supervisor position of the janitorial staff. A friend of my wife in her Korean church connected me with this guy. My wife says it's a Korean custom to wear a tie during the interview. I think this is probably true, but normally, I just wear dress pants and a tucked in polo for interviews. Anyone ever hear this about Korean job interviews? |

A Korean custom to wear a tie during an interview? Yeah, because most people throughout the world don't wear ties to job interviews, only Koreans.
Supervisor of the janitorial staff...Wow. |

I have never worn a tie during an interview and have always been pretty successful in landing jobs. Hey, it's a foot in the door with a huge corporation. I hope to write for their company newsletter in the future. Not too bad of a gig considering rhe upside. I get to boss the janitors around at least. |

It's Korean custom to wear a tie while you sweep the floor and clean the toilets too.
Should be fun! |

I don't think a tie is needed if you're applying for a job to push a mop.
Best of luck.

You'll be in charge of the walking wounded. Apart from waking people up you will also have to try to encourage them to use a different brush for cleaning the sink and toilets.
It's bad enough doing this job with Italians who speak broken English. With Koreans it must be a nightmare. Can you play cards and gesture with your fist I sweep-a the floor I mop-a the floor . I push-a the wife. |

Do the interview the Korean way and dress up for it. Then tell the janitors to do it the Korean way and just push around the dirt on the floors and don't use soap. Your boss will love you for the money you save. Who needs soap to mop floors? Soap and water are for pussies! |

Get the factory workers to wear slippers while in the plant so they don't track mud in the factory. Steel toe boots are for pussies. |

Why not wear the tie with your polo? It will say, "I'm a laid-back easy-going guy, but take this opportunity seriously." |

My guess is kentucky works in a hogwan and gets bored and makes up this alter ego. His stories about gf/wife/ ex change faster than the weather in melbourne. |
