Hi i just bought a nice new lcd tv and I want to connect my computer to it. I read a long time ago somewhere that you can damage your TV if u send inappropriate signals to it, like a wrong resolution or refresh rate. I asked the salesman what resolution to set it at and he said 1920 x 1080 however I have no idea as to the correct refresh rate. Is there a possibilty of damage if something is set wrong?

Thanks a lot

Any LCD TV or monitor (same thing really. One has a tuner, one doesn't) made in the last few years will not be damaged by the wrong refresh rate.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Refresh_rate

I tend to use the highest refresh rate that works, which is usually 60hz with newer LCD's.

I just saw one at my local Lotte mart. So you might try to go there first.

You don't VGA to anything - you want a graphics card that will output digital video. THEN its easy to find a cable that goes to HDMI.

My LCD TV looks great when I play movies off the pc.

I bought a DVI (video card) to HDMI (LCD TV) connector from Technomart. I paid around 20,000 KRW but I think you can get them cheaper online.

Movies, HD stuff look great BTW.

Buy any ATI graphics card and you get a DVI-HDMI dongle for free.

Does Nvidia include one with their cards? I really dunno.
