Hypothetically speaking, you show up at immigration, there's a reason why you can't enter the country...what do you do?
How do you organize flights etc. and where do you stay? |

call your recruiter or your school. hope they can figure it out, otherwise try to jsut get a tourist visa or something temporary. otherwise start checking out return flights |

If you get flat out refused entry, the airline is responsible for repatrioting you.
Which is why they usually check to make sure your visas/tickets are in order. |

I'll be applying for a tourist visa but I don't have a ticket home. That's where I see the problem arising - immigration might refuse me entry based on this fact.
The reason that I don't have a ticket home is that I am owed a ticket by my recruiter (previously teaching in Korea for a year but traveled around Asia, now returning to Korea for a month). The recruiter wants to buy my ticket in the last week of my stay in Korea, because the tickets are cheaper out of Korea at that time. |

I don't know about you being refused entry into Korea but if you were trying to leave Australia as a tourist, you would not be allowed to board the aircraft without a return ticket. |

Is there no accommodation for people who may want to buy ticket in-country?
Is it possible to fake an e-ticket or can they reference it on their database?
Edit: apparently it is possible to fake an e-ticket. http://travelvice.com/archive/2006/03/faux-onward-tickets.php |

Bust through security and take to the streets running. Then you can join the legions of "foreigners living illegally in Korea" that the KT are constantly referring to. |

I just did the thing you are concerned about, Mr. t-funk, and I had no problem at all. Not only that, but I left here as a tourist Sunday and came back Monday and got another tourist stamp with no return tickets whatsoever. No questions, no issues. I made sure to have an address listed and some other documents in case anything did come up |

Thanks people. I just got an informative PM from bacasper, so I'll post it below. Immi gives you chicken sandwiches, French fries, Coke and phones...if you're smart you can set up a phone teaching gig!!
I have another question. If you can buy a ticket home after being detained, will immi let you enter the country or are you blacklisted as an offender (attempting to enter the country without return ticket)?

If you are refused entry, Immigration ahs a detention area at Incheon where you will stay until you buy a ticket home - so it can be hours, days, weeks, or months. It is up to you.
You will be fed a chicken cutlet sandwich, French fries, and a coke three times a day. There is a TV and telephones but no internet access. You will meet a wide variety of interesting characters there. I wonder if the two Somalis who had been there for a couple of months at the beginning of the year are still there.
If you are there overnight, you will sleep on the benches there.
Have fun!
I can't post now, so if you want to post this, go ahead. |
