|
|
I hate windows. With a passion. Such a horrible piece of garbage.
I have a recurring problem, but right now it's 'stuck'. I extend the laptop to my TV. I don't set it as a second desktop, just a simple extension so I can use the laptop if need be, and have whatever show/movie I am watching playing on the TV.
Vista can barely handle this task and right now it has stuck my laptop into good old 8 bit mode. I can get the extension back to high quality 64, but I cannot get the laptop to go to 64. I have shut down. I have rebooted. I have changed all the settings that might reset it. I have set my TV as my main monitor and that just puts it in glorious 8 bit.
Anyone have this problem? Know any tricks? I am using the google, but all help is appreciated.
(I use a mac as my actual computer, and my vista machine is for downloading/TV and guests. What a piece of crap) |

It has corrected itself.
But....
if anyone knows what might be causing this issue and know a way to avoid it, please post.
FYI: there's the 8 bit issue, there's the fact that it will just reset the extension sometimes and a plethora of other issues. It's not the S-video cable, and it is definitely an OS issue.
thanks. |

I'm guessing Vista can handle the task fine......My Vista PC outputs to a TV flawlessly.......so maybe you need to look at your hardware.
Can your laptop output a video signal at the resolution you have set it at?
When I connect to a TV, I need to set the resolution and refresh rate at certain levels that suit the computers graphics card and the signal that the TV will accept.
For example, the TV I use in my classroom seems to only accept 1024x780 resolution and a 60hz refresh rate. |

Thanks. I actually thought of that, but everything seems to be set accordingly. It's the fact that the system seems to reset itself and change the setting that I can't seem to figure out. It follows no pattern of usage causality. It is completely inconsistent. If it's in sleep mode or shut down, quite often everything stays working. Then sometimes it wont.
This is a laptop that also will be in sleep mode with the laptop shut and will randomly come out of sleep mode on its own. No viruses according to Norton.
If it weren't for the fact that I bought it more than 2 years ago for what at the time was about 680,000 won, I would be very displeased. |
