No rush, I got my visa in a day, but it usually requires 2 days. I was planning on leaving the next day (Saturday) so they rushed it for me. This was in.... 2003, so I can't remember the price or anything. I think the only requirement was my passport, the visa fee, and the application. No big deal. Oh, and I got it here in Korea. |

The last time I went to China (Winter: early 2008) individual tourists were unable to apply for a visa. All applications (from Korea, at least) needed to go through a licensed travel agent. |

Go to a travel agent and have them handle it. Since you're American it will cost $100+. Give them a week or so just to be sure. |

If you have time , you can apply for a one-year, multiple-entry Tourist visa for about $130 ($150 for next-day service) at a Chinese Consulate serving your area (If you're in Florida right now, that would be in Houston). You should contact the consulate to see what courier services you could use to send your passport to get the visa.
If you wait to get here, you'd get ripped off by paying $100 for a single-entry Chinese tourist visa at one of the many travel agencies serving foreigners. |

Do we have to do this before we leave the states or can we do it after we arrive in Korea? |
