Was in the mood for listening to it, but only found this dreary old version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evWo0DV5_ns&feature=fvw. If you listen to it from 45 seconds in, you'll probably recognise it.

I fancied listening to a more cheesy upbeat version. Can anybody find one?

I have no idea why you are interested in this song.

But here I found different versions for ya.

Ballad 1

Ballad 2

Folk Version

Chinese Hip Hop Version ( the best)

Dance Version (really bad)

Ah Brilliant! I just couldn't recall its proper name. The East is Red - that's it!

Partly for sheer amusement. Partly for sentimental value (I used to live in China and one of my friend's mothers liked to sing it often - to our amusement - I guess she was reliving her revolutionary youth!) and partly because I've been getting back into my Mandarin lately, and remember I used to sing along to it.

Thank you. Some interesting variations there.

This one is certainly making me chuckle - haven't tried the dance mix yet though!

And here it is from the film (2 minutes in) with the beautiful fan dance that ends in an enormous flower:

Actually, I confess to being rather fond of this old film, having seen it several times on Chinese telly. It's been half a dozen years now since I've seen it or heard that dreadful (but terribly catchy) song.
