Hi
Does anyone have info about this school? Bad or good things to say about them?
Strange name, I guess it's a play on "Ivy" or something. |

No. It's a reference to the TOEFL Internet Based Test, which has a perfect score of 120.
I don't know the place, but I'd imagine it's a TOEFL hagwon, based on the name. |

Had a chat today with them. Some points;
1) Severance wasnt included the contract. When approached by this, they said they will do a seperate agreement with this at the same time I sign the contract
2) Very reluctant to give leaving teacher's email or phone number
3) Wanted me to sign ASAP. This I can understand since the current teacher leaves this week. Another motive may be involved of course.
With point 2, I understand there are some waygooks here who are just crazy and complain about too many things. But I would like the opportunity to judge him/her myself.
Sound too dodgy? |

Well, Mr. Connor, to me it sounds dodgy. Why is the last teacher leaving? How long has the place been in business? How is the 원장님? If it really is a TOEFL hagwon as the name implies, the pay should be good -- at least 3.0 a month for 120 hours of teaching. You should only consider the job if that's the case, and even then, you should probably look elsewhere.
If you have teaching experience and want to learn about and teach TOEFL, you could try Columbia Institute in Daechi-dong. The teachers there are usually paid around 35k an hour, which equates to about 3-4 million a month. They've been in business for many years and seem relatively organized for a hagwon. They always post ads on worknplay, so I suggest sending them an email and seeing what they say. |

Thanks
Though I doubt I am experienced enough for them to be interested in me. However, my repeated request for contact details of the leaving teacher have go unanswered. I'm very doubtful. They are probably seeking out a new recruit as we speak.
