I think its awesome that Korea is so enlightened and open minded to let Kpop bands such as Big Bang, whose demographic is primarily kids aged 8-14, have tv commercials selling beer.

I'm sure the father's of those 8-14 year olds quite enjoy the women in the Kpop bands (but not for the music, of course).

I would suppose that using a pop group who appeals to a young demographic to sell an adult product is a result of a lack of marketing knowledge. I work in a company. Trust me. It's very plausible.

My 'say-something-positive' statement: The one Korean company that stands out like they know how to design marketing strategies and campaigns is Korean Air. I like most of what they do.

Big Bang's demographic is not 8-14. It's much wider, covers high school students as well as old as 19 to early 20's.

What's even funnier is that one of the members of Big Bang isn't old enough to endorse alcohol, so they've done all the commercials with 4/5 of the group. Shocked

And ajosshis/ajummas too. Basically K-pop is popular among all demographics in Korea, except the really old people who still listen to trot music.

Yah, demographics isn't an issue when it comes to pop culture in Korea. Everybody likes everything everybody else likes.
