I just took a bus from Seoul to Sokcho. We caught the bus at Express Bus Terminal. It cost approx. 23 000w on the deluxe bus, and took around 3.5 hrs. Our bus back also ended up at the Express Bus Terminal. Good luck! |

AaronDiesel nailed it.
Intercity buses out of Dongseoul Terminal rule. Compared to Gangnam Express buses:
One hour shorter travel time (2.5 vs 3.5).
Buses depart more frequently.
Fare about 5000 won less.
Same "deluxe" buses (3 seats wide) on the large majority of runs.
Voice of experience here. I've travelled this route many times. |

If you go to Sokcho, I highly highly recommend staying at "The House Hostel" which is a 1 minute walk from the bus stop. You can book online through hostelworld.com or hostels.com
No affiliation or anything, just pointing out a nice cheap place to stay with an English speaking owner. |
