I just got IPTV via Qook (formerly KT Megapass) and it rocks. The pic and sound quality are great and the VOD section has tons of stuff for free.

You can choose Qook or SK Broadband. If you want more foreign channels, SK is the way to go since it has more. They are as follows:

[540] CNBC
[541] CCTV9
[542] NHK월드프리미엄
[543] FOX News
[544] Bloomberg
[545] DWTV Asia+
[546] BBC Lifestyle
[547] GranadaTV
[548] Fashion TV
[549] Channel[V]
[550] Trace TV

I have Qook since I had KT Megapass broadband but I can't complain.

LG Powercomm has the least selection, so I'd avoid that.

To be honest I'm not that impressed with IPTV compared to the last cable I had.
The cable I had before had the following:
Tooniverse (shows simpsons sometimes)
Fox (shows law and order, and some other dramas, like criminal minds)
3 or 4 movie channels that showed mostly foreign movies
Foxlife (showed mostly sitcoms, how I met your mother, scrubs, even america's funniest home videos)
the 2 video game channels (didn't watch them much, but I occasionally flipped through to see if there was anything interesting I hadn't seen before)
Various sports channels. IPTV has sports channels, but they don't have the same sports channels which often featured some specials and things like that.

I can download all the shows, but sometimes its just nice to let the TV pick which episode I'm going to watch.

I read all my news online.

The only plus I've got on my IPTV is that it has a Janggi channel (you can also watch the back catalog on that). I like the back catalog, and its cheap, 10,000W with my internet, but I'm seriously considering getting the other cable again because I miss a lot of those channels.

I have QookTV.

I like it. There are a few things I have a problem with. You have to pay for recently aired TV shows until 1 week after they've aired. Paying for premium movies is one thing, paying for a TV episode that has already been aired is another.

The Megapass Lite (I can't get the premium in my building) is too slow to utilize the VOD service, and the computer internet. As soon as I turn on the QookTV VOD box, my internet speed crashes on my computer.

Some of the programming that is widescreen, but not HD, doesn't display properly on a widescreen TV. It'll put black bars on the top AND sides of the picture. Of course, zooming with the remote will only stretch the sides. You then have to mess with the zoom on the TV remote to get it to strech the top.

The set top box should automatically stretch those pictures to fit perfectly on a widescreen TV.

The QookTV has good slection of movies. If you get the Catch-Ondemand subsccrption, then you get a ton of movies. I didn't like how you had to pay for some English TV shows (like Prison Break).

I don't use 80% of the things they offer in the VOD (banking, newspaper, magazine, shopping, Education, etc...) Also, not every KOrean TV show is offered in the VOD. The popular shows are, but I couldn't find BulmanZero.

I also have Qook TV and really like it. Don't forget, IPTV has just taken off so the number of channels should rise dramatically by the end of the year.

I do wish, however, that Qook TV had BBC Entertainment despite what I think of Brits.

Rolling Eyes

I don't much like IPTV, at least not in Korea, the selection of programmes I want to watch is pretty low and a lot of content that should be free requires paying for. Plus the free content has way too many adverts. Personally I sometimes like just channel hopping which isn't that practical with IPTV. I like the on demand TV back home, but it's not doing it for me out here.

I've had no problems with the VOD service, and I thought I would because of the bad weather. Lots of documentaries in English and subbed in Korean but you need to be able to read Korean to navigate.

I'm also thinking the number of channels will shoot up every month.

Channel 204 is now Channel Yes and has American TV shows and other non-Korean entertainment programs.

Qook has added 11 channels to its lineup as of Oct. 1, including CCTV 9, Euro News, Nat'l Geographic Adventure, BBC World News, Disney Channel, Arirang TV (whoopee do) and Unitel Classic (a German channel on live classical music in HD).

SK Broadband's offerings are a bit different and well, SK is offering more reasons to join.

has anyone found any korean sports channels on the SK IPTV? like SBSsports? The only ones I can seem to find are eurosports and the like.

I also wouldn't mind if SK added FoxLife to the IPTV package.. it was a nice channel if I just wanted to watch some random sitcom or funny videos.

IPTV, VOD are the best way. Half of regular cable is junk anyways...like i care about the 10 different home shopping channels. I hook my computer into my HDTV anyways. Also check out TVU, you can get a lot of international channels and sports for free.

IPTV keeps adding channels, and can probably do it faster than cable or satellite since it uses the Web. I'm just hoping that Qook can keep pace with SK.

SBS Sports and MBC Sports are not yet available on IPTV but hopefully they will be. It seems Qook keeps adding channels every two months or so, though its choices can be suspect.

I'm also getting Catch One and Catch One Plus free this month as part of a promotion (or so I think). If you have HD TV, IPTV is great as is Skylife.

This is key.

I have MyLGtV and it's pretty terrible. No English documentary channels, no sports channels worth anything, only CNN. That's it.

But last month they added MGM and Arirang.......fabulous!....but at least it shows they can add channels.

I suppose it's all about MyLGtv getting off their arses and making deals with various media companies to expand their schedule.......

The picture quality is top-notch. HD broadcasts are incredibly clear and vibrant on my 47'' 1080p. Although the problem Pkang mentions where some things aren't in 16:9 format happens with MyLGtv too. Usually just ads though. Not a biggie.

I'd get rid of MyLGTV if I were you and get SK. I've had MGM on Qook since I got it and well, Arirang, I can definitely live without it.

Are these IPTV and Qook Cable TV services? Or internet based services? Do they come through your modem and play on your computer or come through your cable box and play on your TV.
I realized that someday in the future there may be no difference between TV and computer, or modem and cable box, but that day is not quite here yet (is it?).

Anyway, I am really wanting a sports channel that plays the big tennis championships. I hate it when Wimbledon or US Open is being played and I get 3 golf channels, 3 baseball channels, and 3 soccer channels (24 hours a day, everyday). Is this finally my answer?
Thanks,
