|
|
This is the situation - I've been asked to shoot the 'making of' documentary for a Korean feature film (big production, studio film, stars, the whole shebang). The gig starts at the end of February and should run until the beginning in June.
Now, I believe I can get the C-3 visa without a problem (90 days) and just renew if I have to...is this correct?
HOWEVER, if I were looking for a visa that allowed actual employment...what's my best bet?
Arts and Performances E-6?
Special Occupation E-7?
Cultural Arts D-1?
Temporary Employment C-4?
Something else I'm overlooking?
The E-6 is just a C-4 that goes over 90 days, and that would seem to be my best bet, but I'm not sure. Basically, the director of the film is a big name (think Park Chan-wook or Kim Ki-duk, a guy of that stature, though I'm reluctant to go into details in this forum) and would go to bat for me on the visa process, providing what I would imagine are the necessary documents (proof of employment, business certificates, recommendation letters, whatever). Is there any way I can get a visa that's bigger and badder than the C-3 that also allows for employment?
Can anyone advise?
Also, what is the length of stay for the visas listed above? I swear to god, I cannot find that info on the Korean immigration website...
Thanks, folks. Let me know your thoughts. |

Hate to be a smartarse but why not go to the consulate in Seoul?
I am sure they will have the answers.
The reason why I say that is that your case is unusual as most people are here working or studying or both. But that type of question will most likely only get half information and probably won't get you what you want. |

Sounds like an E-7 visa to me. The production company that you are shooting for would have to sponsor you. It shouldn't be too hard though. |

I'm not sure which visa you would need to apply for but I would suggest calling the embassy and inquiring.
I am a Media Production graduate with previous experience working on set and am currently teaching English here in Korea...
Sorry if this comes across as cheeky; but could I send you an E-mail? These forums won't let me PM you. |

It should be a year. My buddy was a consultant with an E-7 visa. It was 1 year at a time. I worked with a guy this summer who was an international school teacher and he had an E-7 as well. Good for a year at a time. |
