1. Kimchi is too spicy for us.
2. We cannot use chopsticks.
3. We are afraid to go to the sauna.
4. We are too stupid to speak Korean.
5. We are all liberal and hate Bush.
6. We cannot drink soju.
7. We cannot learn how to play gostop.
8. We are all here for money and/or sex.
9. We are rude and imerialistic.
10. We all hang out together.
11. We have the same culture as all other English speaking countries.
12. All of our ancestors are from England.
13. We are all Protestant.
14. We are afraid to try new foods and all Korean food is too spicy for us, as we have never had Mexican food before.
Just my rant for today after having a conversation in Korean with someone who knows I have been here over 7 years and asks if I can use chopsticks and eat kimchi. |

If I were, I would have been gone a long time ago. I could get much more money in the states. |

I get annoyed at that too. We just live in bubbles. Always shock that you've actually ate Korean food. I love that one, 'Have you tried Korean food?' in 100% seriousness.
I also try to inject Mexican/Thai food and how popular it is at home in the 'isn't it spicy?' question. My follow-up response always falls completely flat. It doesn't seem to register that you'd even have Mexican/Thai food in the US.. or that you'd have anything but hamburgers and pizza everywhere at all times.
I once had someone explain to me that rice is popular in Korea and I should try it. They said in the US, you eat bread, in Korea we eat rice. You should try it!! I about spit out my kimchee when they said that. |

PS I did not do that on purpose. Now, I see the system. Things they think are true, but are not. See, I am stupid. I am just a stupid chicken. |
