Economic collapse has happened. Just go back to the Great Depression.

I'm not talking about the end of the world. I'm talking several years of bleak unemployment figures. Soup kitchen unemployment figures.

I'm starting to agree with the idea of stagflation returning more and more. Just read a story about Canadian household debt. It's going to be scary when the interest rates go up (especially mortgage rates), and not only are the masses underworked, they are out on the streets. Basically we all might as well just stay in Asia, you may need good connections to make a liveable wage backhome.

I just figure that life's too short and there are already enough problems to sit around worrying about to fixate on this. I'm not saying you aren't right to be worried about the economy and prospects for the poor, but to make countless posts screaming economic armaggedon is similar to a crazy on the street preaching the apocalypse. Alright, we get it, it's going to suck when the economic safety net drops out below the poor and middle class in America, but it was a pretty nice day today and I would much rather spend my time thinking about that. Also, I promise I won't ask to raid your food bunker when the apocalypse does happen Wink You can just say I told you so!

I'm more worried about the monkeys living downstairs.

They are always coming back with more metal pots and bags full of stuff.

I know they are up to something, but everytime I go down the stairs to look, one of them is sitting there with a knife and an evil grimace.

Why won't the monkeys leave my house?

It's not the equivalent of screaming about the end of times.

The U6 unemployment figures are at 17 percent. Most economists agree that the U6 numbers will climb above 20 percent by June.

At it's peak, U6 unemployment stood at 25 percent during the Great Depression.

We are going to surpass that figure.

What makes it worse is that people today are drowning in debt. This depression will eclipse the Great Depression.

High unemployment will be with us through 2012.

The outlook is bleak. I'm not telling you to jump off a cliff. But the future is dismal.

Them's the facts.
