at my bus stop there are these trees with yellow berries that fall to the ground and are all over the place. They stink! You can't help but get them stuck to your shoes. I got on the bus and I could smell the stinky things. The bus driver indicated to me not to bring them on the bus. Why on earth would the city place these trees at a bus stop? Also, I see ajumas picking up these berries. Do they eat them?? |

The berries are about the size of 50 won coins?
They are maple trees. The berries, if you touch them, makes you itch. (There was a MASH episode about this)
They are edible if you know how to cook them properly. |

They are called 은행 uenheng same pronunciation as the word for bank in korean. Inside is a seed that they pound to make a jellylike food. The smelly part is not the seed but the berry. Ive also heard that they roast the seed to eat but have not tried it that way. i used to hate the smell but it kind of reminds me of blue cheese so it gets me craving some and a good baget. |

You might be meaning Gingko Biloba, or Gingkos for short. When they rot, they smell similar to vomit. The seed is supposed to be good for the mind, or at least thats what I heard the Chinese believed.
They do stink up the place when trying to clean them up to replant. |
