Where can I buy ibuprofen? When I asked some Koreans, they only mentioned Advil or Tylenol. Is Ibuprofen readily available? Is it labeled as something different? Thanks. |

I would like to know as well. I brought a bottle from home and gave 1 to my teacher once for cramps and she was so impressed and talked about how effective it was, so it sounds like its not something that's widely available. |

I hate Tylenol, because the only time I need pain relief is on Sunday mornings. And they are bad for your liver. |

Gah! I knew I should've bought a Costco-sized bottle from the States when I had the chance... |

I bought it without a prescription here for a problem with gout so it is available from pharmacies. Unfortunately I can't remember the name but the pharmacist told me it was ibuprofen. I think pharmacists are reluctant to sell it though. The only reason he sold it to me was because I limped in. I was warned of the dire consequences of taking more than 1 capsule. |

I've bought it from pharmacies a number of times. The name is just, "Ibuprofen," with Korean pronunciation of course. |

Ibuprofen is available at every "yak guk"(pharmacy).
It comes in 200,400 and if you get lucky 600 mg tablets.
A box of 10 pills costs around 2,500 won.
Ask for EE-BOO-PRO-PEN-UH and they'll grab it for you.
They are happy to sell it to everyone. |

The painkiller in Advil is ibuprofen. Do you just not like the brand?

Advil is a fine Ibuprofen pill. Nothing wrong with it. Completely different from Tylenol which can cause liver problems here and there.
I've been buying Ibuprofen in Korea pharmacists for 9 years. Never went to a pharmacist who didn't have it.
OP, you should write down what drug you want if the pharmacist looks confused. They have a database on their computers which can show them the alternative brandnames for each drug in each country.
But Ibuprofen.........they've never blinked when I asked for that. It's a very common painkiller. |

Careful there limey!! These compounds are pain relievers (analgesics) not killers. The real "killers" are a whole other ballgame!! |

Minus the "-uh"
아이부프로펜, or thereabouts. Someone already mentioned, packs of 10 will cost around 2000-2500 won. I also have two large bottles of around 400 and 600 each I brought over from my trip to the states this summer. Gotta love it, so many pills for 7 dollars |
