Does anyone know if it's okay to take bicycles on the subway? I want to buy a bicycle but I'd have to go collect it.

For a while there were a couple of lines that had room on some of the cars for bikes. I don't know if they're still doing that. But, I've taken my bike on the subway (and I seen plenty of Koreans do it too) before and never had any issues. Just exercise some common courtesy and transport it during off-peak hours and use an end car.

Or, get yourself a map and have an adventure riding it back home.

Yes, you can take bikes on the subway. There are big spaces I think towards the end that are open, I'm guessing for people in wheelchairs, large boxes/bags and bikes.

The other day, I saw a few people standing together with bikes on the subway, but those were collapseable.

yeah, but it's not a permitted activity. So just do what Climber says and be sensible/discreet about it

I'm pretty sure it's permitted. At the end of the platform of Noksapyeong station I saw a symbol of a bicycle above the glass doors . I'm assuming that means you can put your bike on the last (or is it the first?) car.
