The manager got close to the daughter and, when they started to talk about getting married, the mother told him to show he was wealthy enough to wed her daughter, asking him to buy a house they had on Yongjeong Island off Incheon. |
You want some honey, then where's the money? |

A house is part of the wedding present. Why do you think Koreans want to get married so fast? Getting married is the only way to get out of the parents house and live alone. |

Hope this dowry thing is just a fluke. Wouldn't like to pay the parents for the right to marry the daughter. Anyways, this is really outdated thinking for a 1st world country! |

From the article, first paragraph:
Quote: |
A middle-aged unmarried department store manager was sentenced to a suspended jail term for embezzlement Monday, apparently being deceived by a mother-daughter team of swindlers.
|
I thought swindling was fraud? At least... in the UK it would be. |

I dont see how those women swindeled this guy. They said if you want to marry me, show me the money. Materialistic and crass, but not criminal. This happens every day here. |

Was the guy really deceived if mom put a price on her daughter and was not in any way involved with this guy's department store antics?
I believe "decieved" is the wrong terminology. "moronically manipulated" seems to be a better fit. Also, I love the Korean (Asian) relationship mentality. In this particular case, the mother put a price on her daughter's vagina of one pre-owned house in Incheon. Let's just forget that the guy might be a cyclops, have 8 fingers on each hand, mess the bed every night and beat the bag out of her on a daily basis. Even better, forget what she wants!! So in a year, both parties can join the Love Motel league. |

I'm not certain that we uses the 1st-3rd world labelling system any more, but if we did, I'm not sure Korean even qualifies as a true 1st world country yet....
unrelated, sorry! |
