I have a scooter and it's great. I want to go to Gapyeong next week on my scooter because I think it would be great. However, I'm concerned about what roads I can and cannot take.

My plan is to stay on route 6 east until it magically transforms into route 46 just east of Guri and go straight on til morning (ie Gapyeong).

The way I'd like to take has me taking 46 until a little past Cheongpyeong and then transferring to 391 (black numerals in a dark yellow square) , which has a different icon than 46 (white numerals in a blue oval). I'm a little confused at to what these designations mean (provincial route? county route?) and whether or not they have different laws for scooters.

Has anyone made this trip before, and are there any legal issues regarding this route?

How far is it?

Is it a 2-stroke?

50cc or 100cc?

How fast can she go?

125, tops out at around 100km/hr. Also I'm confused as to what the 391 means.

I don't know what 2 stroke means Embarassed

Mine was a 100cc, felt good at 80kph.

2 stroke
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Two-stroke_engine#Lubrication

If I remember right, a 2 stroke engine burns oil along with the fuel. So you have to refill the oil as well. When I had a scooter I had no idea about that so each time I checked the oil and it was always 'full' I kept saying "Yeah!" Then one day she just seized up on me and no more scooter. The oil line had been blocked the whole time. Crying or Very sad

I don't see any problem with that route. At 80kph and Seoul lights around 90 min trip time.
I've only rode on just a short section of your route. I went 88 then 45 then 46, so basically PaldangHo and up the North Han river.

Cool thanks for the info guys. I'm just concerned that 391 is some kind of special mod edit that will get me thrown in the pokey.

The main difference is that the blue double-digit roads are 2-lanes each way and are 'national roads' (kukdo) and the yellow 3 digit roads are 'county roads' with only one lane each way.

Your easiest route will be 46 straight thru Guri, Namyangju, Chongpyeong to Gapyeong.

Going for the Jazz Fest next weekend by any chance ? That's a good enough reason.

Thanks, that's what I needed to know. Yes I'm going to the Jazz Fest, I went last year and I'm really looking forward to it this year.
