That does not actually answer his question. I think all of us would be surprised if there were not Korean subtitles for the aliens. The real question is whether or not there are also simultaneously English subtitles for the extraterrestrials in question. |

Konglish has it right.
They don't do it in any other Asian country I've been to movies in. Only here. Taiwan, China, Japan etc, all leave the english in, or at least they did when I went.
Same for Inglorious Basterds. I want to go see it. I'm fluent in French and English and have some German comprehension, but not good enough to follow dialogue or than words here and there. They'll be speaking too quickly. |

The same is true for Thailand. In fact, to my great surprise, some Thai movies are even shown with English subtitles. |

My answer still stands , the alien subtitles were in korean only for my wife's specific screening. Whether or not its the same throughout korea, i wouldn't know. So assuming most theaters get the same filmprint/digital file as the one my wife saw then i would wager it would be the same in all other theaters. Like you said , you would be surprise if it wasnt in korean. I would be aswell. If other theaters play both subtitles +10 to them and boo for the theater my wife goes too..'
I saw Angels and Demon in korea last summer. They didnt keep the english subtitles for the foreign languages either at the theater i went to. Again i have no clue if thats the norm or not..
I also remember an other movie i saw the year before that had both english and korean subs BUt the korean subs covered the english ones so they were barely readable. Im assuming this happens because the filmprint or file they get had embedded english subtitles that couldnt be removed... |

I did this and it actually made me want to go and see the movie more! I find the audio on most Korean TVs to be really bad. The sound quality for music, background noises and explosions/car chases is just fine, but the speaking parts always seems really low and garbled for me. So you have to turn it up really loud. Has anyone else noticed this? It is the same for the TVs at my school. |

You'll be OK. I just watched it and can read a little Korean so I was able to follow. My Korean level is beginner so if yours is too you'll be fine. Even if you can't read Korean you'll still be able to figure most of it out on your own. |
