Hi,
I'm looking for a little advice from somebody who's been down this road before. The consulates are giving me conflicting information (and are closed for the weekend in any event), so I was just wondering if anyone has dealt with this situation...
My girlfriend I just finished our contracts in Korea, we're in Newfoundland, Canada on vacation, and we are leaving directly from here to start our new job in Korea. I'm from Newfoundland but she's from Ontario. We both have up-to-date criminal record checks from our local police.
Since we are from different provinces, we are designated to deal with two different consulates (me Montreal, she Toronto). I received my criminal record check verification for my last job through the mail from Montreal and it was fast, easy, painless. She has to deal with Toronto which is 10x more sticky and horribly inefficient.
We're on a tight timeline here, since our employer wants our documents in Korea, well - yesterday. My question is: if we both sent our criminal record checks to Montreal, would they process both of us, even though she is from Ontario? Must she deal with Toronto?
I was thinking that I would put both CRC's in an envelope with my Newfoundland return address on it...would that work?
Anybody? |

I am a Canadian citizen but I live in the US(have since i was 10) but I still had to get a Canadian check. I live near Seattle so I had to drive up to Canada a few times to deal with this. I simply went to the nearest Korean consulate(Vancouver) and had no problem getting it confirmed by the consulate. I think as long as you have a canadian notarized check any consulate should do. The only thing is I had to get a federal background check from some private fingerpringing place in vancouver as I didnt actually have a local canadian police station to get it at, which is a whole different story. Yours sounds like a local one so the rules may be a bit different, but I kind of doubt it. |
