Is there any reason my school shouldn't be giving me the extra 100k for teaching at multiple schools? Is this perk given across programs (EPIK,GEPIK, JLP, etc) or is it specific to EPIK? |

Check your contract... It'll tell you if you should get the money or not... |

I get 150000 for 3 schools but they took away my rural allowance because my house is in a city even though my schools are surrounded by rice fields. I work for Epic or a Poe that is pretending to be epic. |

You work for the person listed in the first paragraph of your contract as "Employer". |

My contract does not specifically say I get the extra 100k. I do not work for EPIk but rather a PoE acting as EPIK.
I was concerned about this prior to signing the contract. I sent an email to my recruiter who contacted EPIK. Both the recruiter and EPIK said this is standard for public school employees.
I'm going to pursue the issue tomorrow, was curious as to if anyone else is in the same boat. |

Some places pretend to be epic in that they give you an epic contract. Strange thing in Korea is some private schools are funded more by the government than public schools. |

Australia also gives more to some private schools. Their funding basis is need, but want or greed can be phrased to sound like need quite easily. |

All POEs/MOEs or individual schools get their money for foreign English teachers from EPIK - it's the umbrella organization under the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology set up specifically to administer this.
There are a 'bazillion' different 'EPIK' contracts... the one that applies is the one you signed. If it doesn't say you get a multiple school allowance, I'd be willing to bet you don't. |

It's not in your contract so you don't get it. |

If you keep saying the contract theory then contracts will start to omit stuff and unless you complain bonuses will not be paid. If I get it so should the o.p. |

Haha, what? Why would the school give you money unless they said they were going to? ie in the contract. I'm going to go to school tomorrow and demand 2 months holidays because that's what unis get. Even though I work at a public school. Makes sense right? |

It doesn't make sense to bring in university contracts when we are talking about public schools. It also doesn't make sense to take the side of the Koreans reducing wages. If they pretend to be epic they should pay epic benefits. |

Why? A contract is a contract. Every situation is different. If a school wants to save money by offering less benefits, that is their prerogative. They will get less qualified teachers as a result. |

My understand is that in Korea a contract is not a contract. It is a sheet of paper that provides an outline to an agreement. Things can be crossed out or rewritten.
We shall see. |
