This is just an announcement. If you are a lover of Ethiopian food or just want to try it a new place just opened up. It's called Club Zion. It is the new reggae club in Itaewon. It is located on the side street before you get to King's Club, opposite direction of Helios.

what kind of reggae are we talking about. everything, newer, dance hall, dub, classics? a place would good reggae would be a breathe of fresh air for me.

I saw Club Zion a month ago and went in, but their kitchen had not yet opened. I went back the next week which was their first day of food service.

The food is pretty good, but not great. I'd say maybe a 7/10. The menu was still pretty limited but I think they just needed some time to get supplies in.

The berber sauce wasn't as spicy as I've had at other places, but the flavour was nice. I went with 3 friends who had never had it before and the waiter was very attentive. They had one option where you pick a meat dish and then get the lentils and cabbage on the side, which I like because it allows you to get a nice mix of flavours. The prices were also very modest.

The Ethiopian coffee is very good, very strong and fresh.

Definitely give this place a try.

The owner of Reggae Pub/Reggae Club/ and now Club Zion is a great fellow. They had food at their old location but nobody ordered it, and I didnt see anyone eating when I was at Club zion a couple of nights ago.

The only thing I noticed about the place is the Filipina barmaids are kind of juicy girls. None of them pushed anyone to buy them drinks, but "girlie drinks" are part of the game. I'm not quite sure I agree with it, but I guess it's Itaewon and on the hill so a bit unavoidable.

The music varies - if Mr Kim is around, expect roots reggae and a bit of dancehall. If it's only the Filipina staff, expect crap. I can only assume music would be better on weekday nights rather than weekend nights where they might cater to a more mainstream crowd.

So its not really a reatuarant but a club that serves food? Probably give it a pass if thats the case.

it's the only place that offers ethiopian food, no? if anyone knows of others, please share.

what time is the kitchen open/close at zion?

when i went on my visa run to japan, i found an ethiopian restaurant on my last day in fukuoka. i was so happy, the food was so good, iordered & ate two different dishes, spent the last of my yen, and had to walk 2.5 hours to get back to teh hostel, but it was soooo worth it.
