Check the B/S/T forum here, or Craig's List Seoul...there are always modded Wii consoles being offered.
From scratch, the Wii itself will run you around 220,000 and the cracks are free if you get it done in Yongsan. The shop keepers know if they do it for free that you'll probably come back and buy copied games from them for 8,000-10,000 a pop, which is ALL profit for them.
Check Gamer's Row or the 7th floor of the I'Park building (Yongsan Station) to find the vendors. |

Wii mod is 30,000w for Softmod, 60,000w for a modchip. That's if you bring a Wii consoel to them. If you buy it from them, its probably free since a Softmod (no chip) costs nothing to them.
I just got it done a couple days ago. |

Please tell me you didn't pay 30,000 for a softmod...
Just tell the guy you buy games frequently and he'll jump at the chance to hook you up. Competition is so fierce in that area that vendors will do it just to win your business. |

I didn't get the softmod. I got it chipped. Good thing to, because when I took it home, I didn't know what I was doing, so I "formatted the memory" on the Wii thinking it would format the Memory Card, like a Sony PSP. Instead, it wiped the memory clean and went back to factory default. Since it was chipped and not soft modded, I just had to load Homebrew Channel and a few other apps on there instead of going through the entire softmod process.
Stupid I know, but I'm still learning this whole Wii homebrew stuff. Now I jsut need to learn the details about CIOS and Wad Manager.
I'd say 99% of the guides out there begin with the softmod step. I wish there was a guide that was like:
You installed the Mod Chip. Here's what you do next.
Most of the Mod Chip guides tell you how to install the actual chip, but doesn't tell you anything about what to do next. |
