I was on the roof with a co-worker when we saw about 12 fighter jets flying in groups of 3 fly over us VERY low. First couple were cool, then it started getting a bit scary. Does anyone know what's going on? Are they just flying drills or preparations for some kind of fight? |

Good to know. Thanks! But, there were more than one type of fighter jet. There was about 5 groups, each group being a different type of jet. |

Yeah...I'm working near Jeongja station and they've been flying around every workday roundabouts 4:00pm, freaking both me and all my co-workers out, Korean co-teachers included.
The students are mostly excited / distracted by them, but everytime they fly by us, the hearts of all the foreign staff freeze up. They are flying WAY too low, in my opinion. One of my students even said "Teacher, America, planes hit building!"
Guh. Anyone know when this air show of theirs will be finished and they'll stop freaking everybody out?
EDIT: Oh, I almost forgot. The first day they rolled around, one of the afternoon students (old enough to know what's going on in the world) jumped under the table and yelled "I am so young to die!" |

Our school is along the pedestrian-only street by the TimeBridge... but it's private, not public. |

200m up in the air is not too low. They're causing no damage...what's the problem. |

Seen a nice flypast through the mountains in Yongin yesterday. One BIG plane with 3-4 small fighters covering it. They flew what looked to very slow, but it was at a distance, so I couldn't identify the type of aircraft. |

Another possibility is grandstanding by ROK, because of North Korea's latest missile launch of 5 new missiles from the east coast on Monday.
Additionally, there is speculation that DPRK is planning missile launches off the west coast, as well:

I live in Yatap, work in Imae, and live close enough that I can see the wheels still spinning on the C-130's as they take off overhead.
These last 2 weeks have been VERY loud with all the jets blasting through the clouds around 1-4pm. I admit, I even get a bit of a nervous twitch when I hear them scream by shaking the windows of the school. Still, it's cool to see them so close by. |
