So I signed my contract in August and there was no mention of the swine flu or the vaccine in my contract, but a couple days ago my recruiter sent me an email saying that the director wants me to get the vaccine before I go to Korea. My doctor, however, told me specifically not to get the vaccine because of the high levels of mercury. Is it becoming practice to require this vaccine, or is this a scare tactic deal? My information has already gotten through immigration and I am meeting with the Korean consulate on Wednesday to get my visa, so I don't really see what they can do at this point or what I can do if she pushes this.

there are side effects. It's not worth your health for a measly flu.

Tell him to go screw himself..or said you got it done, but lost your paperwork.

As a Chiropractor I did a lot of reading about vaccines and wow there is a lot of horror stories. Two weeks ago they were doing a school program in England and one kid just dropped dead. It wasn't the swine flu vaccine it was the one for cervical cancer. If you think drug companies care about people more than profits you have had better think again.

One friend of the girl asked why they were not warned of possible problems. This is a very good qustion. Drug companies use scare tactics rather than educating people to make an informed choice.

It's your body and it's illegal to make someone take a vaccine. That doesn't stop them from telling you it is mandatory. Drug companies like to play on people's fears just like insurance companies.

The girl in question had an as then undiagnosed heart condition.

As with any medicine there is a risk. How many people die simply taking a headache pill?

Most of the side effects reported so far have been mild.

There are flu shots available without mercury but in short supply.

Too be honest I'd get my hep A/B shots sorted out first since it is pretty prevalent here.

If only that were true.

In most US states, numerous vaccinations are required by law for students entering school, which eventually means everyone born since the law was adopted.

Another intrusion by the socialist state in violation of the principles of Liberty.

Thanks for the responses. So none of you know anything about it being mandatory to get the vaccine to enter South Korea, right?

There is no such law at the present time.

There has been a lot of hysteria related to the swine flu in Korea. Public and private schools have closed for days because one student was reported to have the swine flu. Your boss probably is worried that parents will be afraid to have a new foreign teacher come to the school without some proof that you are not a carrier of the flu.

Tell them there is no vaccine available where you are as of yet. You can get the vaccine here when everyone else does. The time may come later this fall or winter when every teacher faces the option of vaccination or termination of employment, but not yet.

The girl who died had a tumour on her chest which was encroaching on her heart and lung. Doctors said she could have died at any time and it was a coincidence. The day she died, many girls held off from having the vaccination the next day - I said that if I was due to have it, I would have still gone ahead. If someone offered me the swine flu vaccine I'd have that too!

I figured that the director just wanted all of her bases covered, but it seems pretty crazy to be forced with that kind of an option (take it or leave) for a disease with symptoms that only last 3 days. Are medical practices over there pretty solid, or would it be better to get the vaccine here?

This does not stand up in court. They just pretend their way is reality and attack anyone who thinks for themselves.

You can get around that by saying you chose not to have your child vaccinated for religious purposes.

Wow. Have you ever read the horror stories from people who suffered from Polio? Oh, you may not have since the vaccine created by Jonas Salk has almost wiped it off the planet.
How about the vaccines which help prevent smallpox, rubella, measles, mumps, chickenpox, and typhoid to mention a few?
Saying you're a "Chiropractor" on this subject is about as meaningful as calling a heterosexual man a lesbian!

Diseases come and go and sick people catch them. Drug companies lie and say the vaccines cause the lower disease rates.
