| So wait how does it work exactly? Do you pay for the order you make or you pay for the order the previous person paid for? Kinda sucks if say you order 3 drinks for friends and the person before you only ordered some cookie ? but you paid for 3 drinks? Anyways interesting concept. I suppose in these situations its better to just order 1 thing at a time. |
Its like this
Customer
A ---> B----> C----> D----> etc....
Customer A orders AND pays for B.
Customer B orders AND pays for C
Customer C orders AND pays for D
Customer A gets nothing... that kinda blows.
Think of it as, you are ordering what the next person will have.
If I ever go, I'd do what the guy in the article did. I'd totally go crazy and order a whole bunch of crap. Maybe even ask for a special to be made. That's paying it forward. Making some lucky guy/gal very happy. |

sorry i must be dense!! I dont get your explenation? How can B pay for C if C hasnt ordered yet? You expect B to stick around until C shows up? If thats the case it makes no sense to me at all.. The way i thought it worked was B pays for B but B gets what A ordered. Even this wouldnt make much sense if say B pays 2$ for a cookie and gets 20$ worth of stuff that A ordered.. In anycase I still dont get it... |

forget A B C.
Joe orders and pays for a coffee. He gets nothing. He happily goes to work.
Sam orders and pays for ice cream. He gets coffee.
Linda orders and pays for a ham sandwich. She gets ice cream.
Bob orders and pays for one of everything off the menu, with extra whipped cream. He gets a ham sandwich.
I order and pay for a small coffee. I get one of everything off the menu with extra whipped cream. I AM EXPLOITING THE SYSTEM AND MUST BE STOPPED OMG! |

It's very secret santa like in a way.
To make it fair, you first have a very defined menu, where the prices of each item hover at 5-8 dollars.
Then, you cap the orders at 3 items. People who order 1 item are As, 2 items are Bs and 3 items are Cs. So if you order 3 items, you'll always get 3 items in return, if you order 1 item, you'll always get 1 item in return. The clerks just need a way to keep track.
To keep it interesting, they'll need a massive menu consisting of 5-7 dollar items. |

| Plus I presume the first person of the day gets what the last person of the previous day payed for. The only person loosing out was the very first person to order something, and I would presume that one was on the house! |
