So I'm considering getting a rabbit, as in once I can find a place with good supplies I will likely be adopting one.
Right now I live just north of Naedang, where other than the small pet section of the Home Plus there are no suppliers that I'm aware of.
If anyone could give me a suggestion of where to buy good and preferably cheap supplies (hay, a reasonable sized cage, nail clippers, ect) especially around my area that would be fantastic!
Also I need a vet. Likely whatever rabbit I get will be spayed or neutered. Not that my rabbit will have a chance to "go at it like a rabbit", but it decreases aggressiveness and tendencies to be territorial.
Thank you kindly!

Go to the last post and you'll find some info on a vet in Daegu (a 'rabbit specialist' even!). Apparently it's across from the Homeplus (you say they only have a small pet section?) Besides that, you should check out Korean pet supply websites, there are many, they often offer good prices. I think there was a thread about this not long ago, but I'm not sure. Do some searching around!
Good luck |

Hi! No problem
Btw, I just found two websites for rabbit/small animal supplies -all in Korean though, so click around for a bit- but convenient because they will deliver to your door.

Hope that helps! |

Hi
I have a dog and recently just got a kitten from Seomun Market.
There's a vet by Camp Walker. Her name is Dr. Beck. She also boards animals for $10 a night. (and currently has a kitten up for adoption too.)
If you need her info, just PM me. She's really nice. |

RABBIT! That's such a great idea. Now I have to get a rabbit AND a hedgehog in Korea.
I'm gonna miss my baby rats here though... It's ok, my friend is taking them, and I know she'll love them.
ETA: Out of curiosity, does anyone know if rabbits and/or hedgehogs need to have a same-species friend the way rats do? |

I know nothing about rabbits, but after searching through many older rabbit/pet posts on Dave's, it seems that they're very sociable, so having a friend would be nice for them.
An earlier thread that might be interesting for you bunny people:
http://forums.eslcafe.com/korea/viewtopic.php?t=119269&highlight=rabbit
Also, to the OP- I came across another post asking for rabbit supply stores in Daegu and someone replied:
| Quote: |
| Not sure of a specific stores or supplies, but there's a concentration of pet stores just south of Banwoldang intersection toward Myeongdeok station. Most of these are on the west side of the road, on the left as you walk toward Myeongdeok from Banwoldang station. |
This was in 2008 though, so I don't know if this info is up to date.
On a different...and final note...after spending a lot of time going over these older posts, it's obvious just how many people get a pet and then want to dispose of it when they leave Korea again. Just one example: from July 29 to August 5 2008 there were five posts alone from people wanting to give away their bunny. Time and again there are people wanting to give up the dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, etc. they acquired in Korea, which I think is just amazingly irresponsible If ppl know they're not gonna be here forever, and they know they're not going to bring the pet home with them, then why bother??!
Sorry...after reading all the crap some Dave's posters like to spew out, I got a little worked up ^_^ |
