I got back into building about ten years ago here. I have an Iwata HBSB
airbrush with a 7Kg/cm2 oil-less piston compressor. Kits here are really
cheap, however other things like photo-etched accessories and a variety
of paints have to be mail ordered. Things like sealants and pigments
are also non-existent.

Anyway, if anyone wants to compare models and technique I would love
to get together. I have reached an impasse on many weathering issues
and would like some input.

I am basically an armour modeller, but aircraft have been done to. To
wit a Bristol Beaufighter TF.Mk.X

My last armour model was a Mt1.SPW.Sd.Kfz.251/1 Ausf.D Half track.

Are they hobby stores over there? Japan is just next door. If you get the time, do a little run over there to pick up some stuff.

I'm building the merkava 4 Academy ATM. Also, Academy f-14a .. it has a ton of ejector marks... and the fit is awful. I think I'm going to be ordering off LuckyModel and get the newish Tamyia IS-2. That's a badass kit. The Merkava 4 is well worth the money. Great Kit. Tracks suck though. Hello Fruilmodel

Hey man......I would love to see some of your stuff. The last thing I put
together was a WWII D-Day diorama featuring a German Panther G with
supporting infantry but that was a while ago.

I was quite a dedicated modeller back in NZ years ago, but since coming
here in 2001 my modelling has all but dried up. This is due to a number
of factors ie. a general lack of space in the apartments/villas that I've
lived in here in Korea (a lack of room to set up a spray booth etc), being
labeled a 'geek' by others, also not being able to find others with the
same interests (I've never met any other foreigners into modelling).

I'm assuming you are a foreigner (maybe your Korean??)

Anyway I used to use a lot of different weathering techniques on my
dioramas including chalk pastels, acrylic drybrushing and artists oil
paints. I have several dioramas back in NZ that I'm very proud of!

Drop me a line if u want to have a geek get-together....lol.

There's a very good model shop near Heiwha rotary.

I'm actually into Napolionic era toy soldiers in both metal and plastic.
I don't have them in a diorama but I have them on top of the TV set.
I also love to paint them.

Where is Heiwha Rotary mate....somewhere in Seoul?

There used to be a great model shop about 4 or 5 bus stops from Suwon
Station heading towards Yongin. Used to have heaps of WWII 1/48, 1/35
1/32 scale stuff etc but in the last year or two they've cut back the
military stuff for fantasy/sci-fi models.....erghh.

Heywha rotary is in Taehongno. It would be nice if the poster that mentioned it could give us a name or better directions....

From Chongno, it's only about a five minute drive.

There are quite a few buses that go there as well.

The best model shop I've found (For models and electric trains) is at Express bus terminal - I can't give you good directions from the subway, but if you naver it, you can find it. Might need a Korean to help you. It's located inside a building on the top floor. Name is Hobby Town

They have a nice big selection of models, and for me - the largest selection of Japanese trains and buildings I've ever seen in Korea.

Speaking of models, I was just looking into buying the USS Seaview model from "voyage to the bottom of the Sea" Its $78. OUch! Last time I did a model I was about 15 yrs old. It is a great hobby. Going to Express bus terminal next week to look for that hobby store. I need to get back into it again. I got the time.

Haha, the "Seaview", Richard Basehart. I downloaded some of those
shows just a while ago. Big French windows at the front of the sub.
They also smoke on-board, haha. Where did you see this model?

There is one really good model shop in Seoul, but I can't remember
exactly where. If you buy Academy stuff it is really cheap. Tamiya
models are more expensive, but still much cheaper than western
countries. (at least something is less expensive here)

Whereabouts at the Express Bus Terminal is this mate? Is it in the
terminal building itself or somewhere nearby? I tried to locate via
Naver but didnt have much luck.

Maybe this is the one you mean:

Nambu Bus Terminal ( Not Express Bus)
Exit 3, building on right 70m, Kukje Electronics Centre.
There is a good hobby shop on the 9th or 10th floor ( same floor as the games section).
Has 'N' gauge trains, plastic kits, paints and tools, RC stuff etc.

sk
(warhammer 40k armies and buildings, etc at the moment)
