I ordered a pair today from www.earphoneshop.co.kr along with some Comply T100 foam tips just in case. 120kwon altogether. You don't have to join their site to order, you can order as a non-member and therefore don't need a Korean registration number to do so. It helps if you can read and understand a bit of Korean though.
Incidentally, that site has just every pair of earbuds I know of for sale, along with some brands I can find nothing about online. I was seriously considering the Philips SHE9850 for a while, but most reviewers say the Klipsches have better sound quality. They've even got the Ultimate Ear custom fit things for close to 2 million won. Presumably some doctor in Seoul will do the ear cast required if you choose to pay the price of a decent 250cc motorcycle for a pair of earbuds. |

Shure's are great headphones. They will back their products with a 24 month warranty. But the price is outrageous unless you have the money.
I've heard great things about the Klipsch Image S4, especially from cnet.com
Eamo, hows the wire? Are they thick? 10,000 won headphones have really thin wires that can get loose within 1 month. I'm irresponsible when it comes to my headphones but i really want noise cancelling headphones. |

Yeah. The cord and connections are the only worrying thing about the Klipsch's. The wire and the connections into each bud do feel a little vulnerable. I'm thinking it's lucky I'm not a jogger!! However, I did read a lot of user comments on the web and no one had said their cord had actually frayed or broken.
Plus, Klipsch gives a 2-year warranty with the S4's.....that's pretty good for 99,000 earphones. If I get two years out of any 99,000 earphones I'd be happy. |

| Well, Earphoneshop.co.kr isn't the fastest shipper. I ordered and paid on Sunday and the Klipsches aren't here yet. |

Some of their stock is disgustingly overpriced. The Klipsches we're talking about retail for $79.99 in the U.S., and are sold at a surprising 99kwon, a measly 6% markup. It's a miracle. |

| I got a phone call today from Earphoneshop. They say they're very sorry, but the ear buds I ordered (and paid for) from them (Klipsch Image S4) will not be in stock until sometime next year. Which is odd since their website says nothing of the sort as far as I can tell. There are even user comments there about how awesome they are. They offered me the Philips SHE9850 at the price of the Klipsch (so 10'000won discount) and since it doesn't look like the Klipsch will be in stock anytime soon and those were my second choice I said OK. |

I've owned the Etymotic ER4S, Sleek Audio SA6, Audio Technica CKM70, Westone UM1, Shure E4, among others, all of which I've sold.
Currently I use the Klipsch Image X5 for noisy some short journeys due to their very good sound, isolation and comfort. Better highs than the Image X10s which I previously bought and sold, without lacking in the bass department. Mind you, I use a portable amp half the time which cancels out any advantage the X10s had in the bass.
But my favorites are the Panasonic HJE900 which I've been impressed with, and use them extensively. The sound quality is excellent, the Technics sound engineers who made these for Panasonic, did a great job. Further more, the build quality can not be beat! Cubic Zirconia, tougher than nails! Highly under-rated. |

Since the Klipsch Image S4's are no where to be found in Korea, I picked 2:
Ultimate Ears Super.Fi 3 Studio
and
Philips SHE-9850
I think the Ultimate Ears look to be a bit better than the Philips. However, since they are in the same price range, I don't think the difference will be noticeable.
I was wondering, what are the risks of buying either one of those on a site like Gmarket? I'm really worried about getting some chinese knock-off. |

I don't know if they make knockoffs of Ultimate Ears headphones, but in Hong Kong I saw impressively accurate counterfeit Apple, Sony, and Bang/Olufsen earphones.
I guess one downside from buying on G-Market is difficulty with warranty claims and being unable to do anything if they crap out on you after a week. That being said, I bought a set of Ultimate Ears earbuds from Frisbee (Korean Apple Store) and I'm pretty happy with them. |

My SHE9850s are from earphoneshop.co.kr and are the real deal. I don't know if they're popular enough for Chinese knock-offs to have been made yet, unlike the Sennheiser 300 series earbuds which are almost all knock-offs in Korea. |
