I can count on my fingers once over the number of times I've clean shaven. Every couple of weeks I use the trimming attachment on an electric razor to "drag" it down to stubble again.
I've almost always had a beard. I'm as lazy as all get-out.
That said, I'm not in Korea yet. I anticipate learning to love shaving in order to command a more professional look. Frankly, I'm ugly as sin, so I gotta have something going for me. Might as well be professional looking.
But if you're a handsome gentleman, definitely spring for the whiskers.
Bonus points if you grow such a gnarley soup-filter that random New Yorkers ask you what kind of Harley you ride |

Get a nasty bad ass American Chopper mustache with a long flowing mullet. Get a Corvette Stingray and drive around blasting" The Boys in the Bright White Sports Car". Have a Southern Rebel flag painted on the roof of your car and a naked girl tat on your arm. Always wear an old T-shirt with a pack of smokes shoved up one of the short sleeves.
Or
Shave your head and grow a long ZZ top beard. Wear a baseball cap and overalls no T-shirt. Walk around with a cigar in your mouth. |

All I've ever been able to grow is a "box," mustache + goatee, no sideburns.
Looks OK, but takes too long and getting grayer every time I try it. *doh!*
It's also Itchy and Scratchy and uncomfortable.
This time, I'm just seeing how long I can go without a haircut.
Go for the beard and see what happens! |

| I've spent the better part of the last 3 yeas with a beard, and I don't know what people are talking about when they say they itch. Mine has never itched. The g/f loves it, it keeps me warm in the winter, and it's natural. The question should never be, "Why grow a beard?" If anything, ask yourself, "Why not grow a beard?" |

Me too, Its a very natural and complimentary look if you keep it trimmed and tidy. And women have typically been surprised to notice that it doesn't feel bristly on their face.
Some korean employers don't like it btw. So I usually wear mine to any interviews so they know what to expect. Its part of my look, I'm not about to change it for them. |

Usually people who talk about beards itching are people who quit early in the beard acquisition process. When I grow facial hair, it itches for a little while before it becomes a full beard. |
