| Um actually Firewire has definite advantages over USB 2.0 especially when transferring large amounts of data such as backups, movies, etc. It's not common to find FW external drives here though...i just settled for USB 1TB WD HD myself. |

| USB is so slow compared to e-sata. I was given a 320 GB with TG enclosure, USB2, and I'm shocked at how slow it is at transferring compared to my e-sata. Ok for drive images stashed away, but I won't use it regularly. |

USB externals aren't sold on an internal equivalency basis. They are portable drives, not meant for the same access or use as an internal drive. For me, it is simply about moving small-ish files around between work and home, occasionally to share with friends.
Anyhow, this is mine with a 320GB...a nice drive. |

I bought a WD mybook 1TB drive. It has firewire/esata and USB.
Personally I prefer buying a normal drive and putting it into an external case. The cases I bought are firewire.
The reason I always go with firewire is: you can chain them and they are faster than USB. |

I'd recommend going for a 2.5 USB HDD (laptop size) simply for the convenience. They're smaller, lighter, and don't require an additional power supply - they get their juice from the USB connection. I got a 500GB for 120,000 at Yongsan 2 months ago. |
Could you post the brand/model number please?
Thanks |

What about if I just want to plug it into my XBOX 360 and play movies?
What would you suggest? |

It is a Western Digital (WD) 500GB model. I always purchase HDD's separately from a case and pick up a slim, simple case that I like for ~10,000 Won.
Yep, pretty much what I have |

| A 500GB, USB-only external? Doesn't sound very appetizing. |

This is exactly what I did with mine. 1TB Buffalo External Drive, connected to the Xbox by USB. Cost about 130,000 I think. |

Kryten,
Thanks for the info on your drive. I did the same thing as you. ...went to Yongsan and got a WD 500GB for 91,000W + a case for 10,000W. Transferred about a hundred Gigs of music/movies, etc. over....works well.
Thanks for your comments everyone! |

| First of all you can't go wrong with Western Digital. Also usb 2.0 HDs are enough for light transfers. |
