Is this a drill to practice in case of an attack or emergency of some sort? How often does is this happening these days? |

Sirens here too...hope this is a drill?
Edit: I see people still doing laundry on their roofs. I think it is a siren test. |

There's something on the broadcasting system. I assume it has to do with nuclear or the breakout of war. No one is paying attention. Business as usual. |

Yes, it is the regular air raid drill. I believe it happens every month on the 15th at 2pm. |

I continued shouting about the different between 1 syllable and 2 syllable words throughout the siren.
No one blinked an eye. |

It was a fire drill. There was a fire truck on my school's field spraying water all over the place. |

It would be interesting to know just how many towns or cities received a fly-by from that, or from another jet. Where are you guys who noticed the jet going over?
I'm down here in Gwangju, Jeollanamdo. The jet went over at about 2.02. The traffic was stopped until 2.15, when the siren went off again. There were a couple of old geezers in the middle of the big intersection down the road with little hand-held flags to hold back the hordes of vehicles.
It's interesting that even the fire service was mobilised too. I don't remember seeing such extensive drills here. |

LOL... East central Seoul (North of the river)
Heard the sirens, looked at the date and then went back to talking on MSN... Traffic outside my office window didn't even slow down, lol... No jets ( ) no fire trucks... I miss all the fun! LOL |

Yeah, I had the sirens as well. I have never heard them before, and they were pretty loud. I stopped talking and asked if it was a fire drill, and my Ko-teacher said, "exercise." |

man, if this was the UK, teachers would so be messing with their foreign language teachers just for a giggle.
"oh my god! the sirens! we are being attacked! Quick! hide in this cupboard, we'll tell you when its all safe to come out!" |

Notice those white, green and blue flags with triangles that have lined the streets for the past few days? Those indicate when there will be a civil defense drill on the 15th at 2pm. I think it is every few months now but they used to be full on drills every month back in the day.
You will also notice that that sign with 3 blue, green and yellow triangles that look kind of like mountains point the way to a possible bomb shelter. You can find them all over the city. |
