I know some of you have to be studying for the GRE, too...Are any of you interested in getting together? I'm not sure what I'm thinking exactly, but I feel like a group would help to motivate me more.

Perhaps we could each do the same problem set, essay question, and/or a practice test on our own and meet monthly or something to discuss questions/issues. After we discuss past work, we could do some type of activity together (a section from a practice test or a problem set/essay depending on what we want our focus that day to be).

As for the rest of you - There are 59 views! No one comes to a thread that is titled "Gre study group" cause they wonder what it's about, lol. With a group you might be more likely to get some stuff done...

I actually went home and took the GRE in October this year. The 2009 Kaplan book helped me hugely. I graduated undergrad in 2006 and after a few weeks of brush up sessions (studying an hour or two per day) I managed to score pretty well. I would recommend "Anki" (digital flashcard program) for the vocab parts. Worked great.

The math part of Kaplan really explains how to break down different types of problems, and I did well, got a 690, and I'm a lib arts major.

The cpu practice tests on the cd-rom really prepare you for what the test will be like.

I may be interested as well. However, I am nowhere near Seoul. But, I could probably do once a month.

When is everyone on here planning on taking the test? I spoke to the GRE test center here in Korea on yesterday and was told that the GRE in Korea is a split test. I can take the computer portion any time, but the essay portion is only offered in June and October. June is too late for me as I want to catch the April cutoff times for Grad schools. I plan on trekking over to Japan in February or March to take the exam.

I'm pretty sure I'm gonna take the split test in Korea. Can't be bothered to head over to japan and I don't plan to be in america for a significant amount of time before grad school (hopefully!!)

I'm gonna give this thread another few days and then get everyone's email addresses/give you mine and start an email thing. (Less confusing for me and I don't have to check dave's.) We can figure out then the best place to meet. I'm probably going to suggest that our first meeting be in two or three weeks. (First or second weekend of Nov.)

About princeton review - I have no idea. I think it matters how you use it. If you take the math help in the books with a grain of salt and figure out the easiest way to solve problems for you, then you are fine, I think. (eg. I think I recall preferring using proportions over Kaplan's percent formula in some situations where they say you should use their formula, but oh well, lol. I have kaplan cause that's what was available...) As far as the vocab goes - All of them are probably good and it can't hurt to use multiple sources, lol.

With all of us combined I'm sure we will have several different types of prep materials if we need it.

I'd be interested for meeting up as well. Where in Seoul are we talking about? I'm in the Songpa area, but could commute, depending on when you were meeting.

Hm...Well, I know three of us live up in teh Nowon area, but I don't know where the other posters here are from. We could always do a coffee shop in one of the foreigner areas like itaewon or sinchon, but that seems a bit far from songpa. Perhaps a uni on line 1 or 2 (like honkuk or hanyang) if everyone here is eastish? I'm sure there are bound to be places where we could set up camp for a few hours near a university.

(I'm also messaging around about libraries. The only one I'm familiar with is up here in Nowon, which is way too far for most ppl, lol.)

Actually if everyone is south, we could also do it near you in songpa - There are plenty of stops on the 2 right below the river that probably have some great places to meet.

So which corners of seoul are you ppl coming from??
