Hey to anyone that has purchased travelers checks here and then mailed them home (to avoid bank fees both ways... about 50$ for each transaction in my case...)

I've never used one of these bad boys before, which part of the check do I sign? There are...

"sign here immediately upon receipt of this cheque"

and

Pay this cheque to the order of............"

I plan to mail them to my mother and have her deposit them in my account...

any insight into how this is done would be helpful

I do this each month and it is pretty easy. Just sign both signature lines on the check, make the check out to your mother (or other relative), and drop it in the mail. Easy peasy. The only thing that can go wrong is if someone opens the envelope and gets a fake ID with your mother's name. If this happens, the TC company is not responsible for reimbursing you. It is unlikely to happen, but anything is possible.

Get the checks, sign in both places. Flip them over and write For Deposit Only aand your account number under that. Then write a nice 5 or 6 page letter home and tuck them in the middle.
