There's two kinds of depression:
1. Depression with a criminal record or HIV
2. Depression with no criminal record or HIV
The first category of depression will make it difficult to obtain a visa. The second category will not present any problem, so long as you show them the same documentation, over and over and over, year after year, to prove it. |

Trevor, Hey I was just wondering- Do you know this from experience (either yours or someone else's)? I am curious because I've been worried about my health statement for the visa because I had mild depression in the past. |

| I wouldn't disclose my depression. I didn't in fact. I take medicine to help me, and I'm a fine teacher. |

I knew someone who had the same worries. It is unecessary to worry. The document for self evaluation of health is like a lot of documents here. They are for show mainly. If you don't create any waves in Korea, nothing will come up.

perhaps its best not to mention it,
but I would ask you if you're ok with it
like you said, you had a case of depression (that was treated),
would you be alright coming to a foreign country and work for a year?
if you feel you're up to it, then go for it
wouldnt want to see you go through depression again, especially in a foreign country |

I just found this thread. I am in the same situation. I suffer from mild anxiety and take lexapro. I do not want to disclose it on the health form for fear of not able to get a visa.
However, my concern is once I take the drug test won't they find out I am on the medication? |

No. If you're really worried stop taking it for a few days until your test is over. I take lorazipam for mild anxiety and I did just fine on my drug test. |

| Hey, I was just wondering if it was possible for me to get an E2 visa if I have been treated for depression? Right now I am not taking any medication, nor am I seeing a therapist but I was treated when I was a teenager. Is this a problem? Should I even disclose this on the "applicant's health statement?" Thanks a lot! |
There is no way they could find out about it so why disclose it? Never give out negative information about yourself that you don't have to. Negative medical information means damaged goods to any employer. |

You are taking Lexapro off-label for migraines. |

| I just got my results from my medical exam for renewing my visa. I told them I had been diagnosed with depression. I was taking lexapro, xanax and welbutrin when i took the drug test and I passed. So I don't know about what you should put on the job app, but it did not affect my medical exam. |

| Do not say anything. And once you are here (if you need drugs of any kind) just take your insurance card and go into any dr.'s office and they will be happy to give you what you need. |
