Watching Manchester United last night and wondering why there is no sign of Korean Ji-Sung Park. Is it just that there are now better players ahead of him, is he injured?

They are playing Giggs and Valencia ahead of him right now. Giggs will only play 20 games this season. PJS will play the rest (considering Nani is sucking up the show, right now.)
It's a shame he didn't play. Korean TV was promoting the game as him vs. Lee Jung Yong. |

He isnt generally considered a first team player, he is usually drafted in when the side needs his workrate against the teams that need grinding down.
Is anyone on this board from Manchester? Would i struggle to find somewhere to watch the games in Seoul? |

The question is 'where in korea can you not watch man utd!?'
I have been able to watch more prem league games in korea than ever before and man utd are on TV much more than i care for because of the mongoloid ji sung.
Premier league is huuuge here, even those who dont like soccer watch man utd. Frankly, im sick of seeing united everywhere.
you will also get to watch england, even when they play caymen islands. |

The PJS is there to sell shirts thing is baloney. He would start every week for any non-top 4 team.
If they wanted to sell shirts, why not buy an Indian or Chinese player? There are way more of those than Koreans. |

He actually finished his loan with the Saudi team and is back in Fulham trying to win his place on the first team. He's getting old and slow... |

was a bit surprised at how many games he started and finished last season for Man Ure.....but he's a decent player. No world beater as Koreans make out to be. He's a good squad player that works tirelessly and doesn't whinge on and on if he's dropped to the bench. |

Fan Zhou, or something. I think they might have sold him.
Just wikied him. He has a pretty good record, but it seems like work permit issues make it difficult for Chinese players. He carved up for Man U reserves and Antwerp. He is back in China now. |

I cant say i agree with this, he was bought off the back of his amazing performances for PSV.
He's a good player, but not first 11 quality for Manchester United, he's a reliable back-up, who does sell a lot of shirts coincidentally.
Hes also got a minor knee injury right now, which would explain his disappearance |

Agreed, every team needs to have "cogs", as it were. John O'Shea is another good example. He can be relied on to step in and do a job, but he isn't going to conquer the world. I would have 10 PJSs and 1 CR23 rather than 11 CR23s. |

Man U are a team who can target the top players in the world. I think that after Arsenal bought Inamoto (remember that?), they saw the marketing potential of an East Asian player. Apparently, Japan went Inamoto crazy even though he rarely played for the 1st team.
To me, PJS is nothing more than average. He does a lot of running but it hardly ever results in anything. When they bought him, they already had a squad full of first-rate midfielders.
I find it hard to believe that this was a completely merit-based transfer. Man Utd are a business with a shrewd marketing division. They probably knew the impact he would make over here. |
