Have we been watching the same player? He's terrible. If you look at the other teams in the big 4, they have players on their bench who would be first team picks at any other team in the league. O'Shea doesn't fit in to that category. He's a shockingly awful player (when he does come in to the team, he makes frequent mistakes).
As for Park, he's a lot like Fletcher in many ways. He'll run all day. He's a box-to-box player of above average skill but nothing special. |

We mustn't be looking at the same player. He's as good as Joleon Lescott, in my opinion. Who do the other top four teams have off their bench, in that position? Degen, Senderos, Alex and Paulo Ferreira are hardly world beaters. I would happily have him on my bench. He can play anywhere at the back and fill in in midfield. Like I say, he isn't going to set the world on fire, but he would make any squad in the prem and start for most. |

Man U are a team who can target the top players in the world. I think that after Arsenal bought Inamoto (remember that?), they saw the marketing potential of an East Asian player. Apparently, Japan went Inamoto crazy even though he rarely played for the 1st team.
To me, PJS is nothing more than average. He does a lot of running but it hardly ever results in anything. When they bought him, they already had a squad full of first-rate midfielders.
I find it hard to believe that this was a completely merit-based transfer. Man Utd are a business with a shrewd marketing division. They probably knew the impact he would make over here. |
Like i said, we bought him after he dragged PSV into the semi final of the champions league (their most sucessful season ever) and put in the performance of the tournament for many. If Utd didnt buy him , some other top club would have. You say we could have bought any of the top players in the world, well at the time, he WAS one of the top players in the world. Did you see any of these matches, if you had im sure you'd understand.
Also at the time we bought him the team was in an absolute state, 2004-2005 is regarded as our weakest squad of recent years, we was losing out on silverware and performingly poorly in competititons. The squad included the likes of Kleberson, Forlan, Veron, Djemba Djemba, Bellion etc. In fact it was that weak that the Roy Keane came out and publicly criticised the squad, Park was bought at the end of this season, take what you want from that.
Can i ask who you support? |

I agree with this, possibly the Lescott bit is stretching it, but im with you on the rest.
As far as Fletcher goes, for me, he's the first player on the team sheet, he's developed into a magnificent player, i have absolutely no doubt in my mind that if he hadnt been wrongfully sent off during his amazing semi final performances in the champions league we would have given Barca a run for their money. |

I think Lescott is going to get found out in a big way. He is an above average player who had 2 very good seasons, but will struggle to meet expectations at Man City. I liked your list of ex Man Utd players. Bellion and Kleberson always play well for me on Championship Manager 4. The development team picked a lot of good players that year. They rated Lescott 155/200. Sounds about right, to me. |

I liked them too, none of them were any good for us though! What are your feelings for Sunday? |

| Roy Keane doesn't often get it right as a manager but he was right about Jonny Evans. The kid will break into the first team sooner rather than later. |

Liverpool are looking terrible. If Gerrard and/or Torres aren't back, they will lose 3-0. They just lost to Lyon, so they will be looking to restore some pride. 2-1 to Man Utd if they have one of that key duo back. 3-nil if they don't. If both are back, it could be a real pot boiler. |
