|
|
This just started a couple of days ago.
My torrents run fine, outlook runs fine, software can update fine
I can access a limited number of sites fine
daves
expat
eztv
allrecipes
and sometimes stuff.co.nz
however no other sites seem to work. I normally use opera, but have tried explorer, chrome and firefox. The other strange thing is the problem goes away for a while then comes back. I have tried clearing out the cache a few times, restarting, I have check the firewall and my system is virus/spyware free.
Any ideas? this one has me scratching my head and as google is down (for me) I can't search for a solution

You just get the 'can't find page' page?
Sounds strange. I've had no probs like that. |

Maybe your ISP is playing around with their security settings and accidently blocking whole groups of websites......just a guess.....but I'm sure it's only temporary. |

Virus? I mean, all the functional programs communicate using different ports than a web browser. Seems you have either a port problem or some other interference with port 80 (the typical browser port). Try a working proxy (port 8080) or other port and see if it is any better. |

Are you at work? Public schools filter web content heavily, more so if you're in elementary school. |

I've been having serious problems as well at school. My internet is constantly crashing, just about every time I use it, all day. For some reason, this website is particularly bad. Every time I change from page to page, it either snaps shut or I get a message before it freezes:
phBB: Critical error
cannot connect to the data base |

I get this too. I think it has more to do with the server load on Dave's end. |

That Phbb error, or whatever, used to be really horrible early in the year. It's not a new thing. It got so bad that people were leaving the site merely for the sheer fact that they couldn't get on. Veterans became edgy like cocaine addicts who couldn't get a fix.
Then Dave seemed to make it work. Now it's back? |

Yeah, but it only happens to me at school. My computer at home is better, for the most part. |

Your web administrator might lock your IP in school because of using torrent to download (or limit the bandwidth of your IP). In my school, the torrent download is banned.
Let you check it?!!! |

Prolly because nobody uses dave's once their at home therefore the load isn't a problem.
As for the OP's problem it sounds like a DNS error, you could try using opendns.com or something. |
