I mostly use oldies ...

"I Will" by the Beatles is very popular especially with girls in that age group.

"Sing" and "Top of the World" by the Carpenters are also good.

You can find karaoke versions on the Internet, and I personally use the karaoke site www.singsnap.com/, which also has classic kids songs like B-I-N-G-O

Among modern pop songs High School Musical has some very catchy tunes, but mostly for middle and High School age kids.

yes. have had repeated success with these:

"Lemon Tree" by Foolsgarden (always a favorite--don't know why)
"Upside Down" by A-Teens
"So Close, So Far" by Hoobastank (I was surpised how much they liked that one)
"Heal the World" by Michael Jackson
"The Climb" by Miley Cyrus
"Stand By Me" by Ben E. King (great for lower levels)
"Perfect Day" by Hoku
"Downtown" by Petula Clark
"There She Goes" by Sixpence None the Richer

There are others, but this is all I can think of off the top of my head.

Rteacher: "I Will" is usually first sung by kindergartners these days.

A selected few by the Beatles: "Let It Be", "Love Me Do" (for lower levels).

Thinking of teaching them Lennon's Christmas Song (War is over) , it has a nice melody but not sure if the lyrics are suitable for 11 years olds, also I'm having trouble with a couple of the E chords playing it on the guitar.

I used 'From me to You' and 'All you need is love' by the beatles for my end of year graduation. They both went down really well.

My kids are loving the Monkees and the beach boys at the moment and they can all sing the chorus to Lucy in the Sky.
