Wow this is pretty good advice. I want to buy a Canon D50 myself. Can you tell me which program you used to check the shutter count and how I would go about doing that so I don't get scammed?

Also, what was the price you finally got?

Yeah... the camera jockeys in Yongsan / Namdaemun / Technomart have been playing the same shady games for who knows how long. It's even worse when you're trying to buy lenses because it can be very difficult to tell used from new.

Another thing to watch out for is the bait and switch. Someone posted here about a dude coming home with a D30 (the first consumer Canon DSLR - 3 megapixels!) in the bag instead of a 30D. Keep your eyes on the camera / lens / whatever that you handled and agreed to buy, and be 100% sure that it's the same one you leave the store with.

So instead of focusing on my two questions, you decide to point out my dyslexia. Thanks man. Sorry for wasting my time reading your rant.

Don't get upset. Clearly writing is a problematic area for the OP, hence his unwillingness to peck out another painful sentence.

Happened to a guy I know. Bought the camera at Namdaemun. The shop guy handed him a bogus receipt. Tried to call the police and the police said it was just my word against the camera shop, and the camera shop insists that they never sold him that camera.

Very Happy
You are NOT welcome here.

The better way for you to avoid scammed is to ask your well know cameraman to go together with you Very Happy

Price is changing everyday, google for it, LOL, dont ask me!!

screw you buddy!! you come on this board and tell people to be careful when buying a camera. then someone asks you for some advice and you reply! " Don't ask me"!!! what the hell are you doing here????
this is a community board for teachers and other people to SHARE information! so if you please... why not answer the questions that you were asked!

1: how much did you pay in the end?
2: What is the name of the software you use to check the shutter speed..

thank you.. and welcome to the community..
god knows how long you will last here with that attitude!

You can use EOS Info to check the shutter count. It's available for the Mac and PC.
