|

Hi all, I'm considering a job offer for a winter English camp. Has anyone heard of a recruiter named Cavin H. Lee and/or Andy Kang? If so, are they reputable? It seems they work with an organization called IEIC Korea.
The offer is from Jan 4 to Jan 30, M-Sa, 9-5 for 3.3 million won. No airfare reimbursed though, but I may be going on to China to resume my job there afterward anyway (so a one-way ticket from the states, which my Chinese school will reimburse later). They've advertised shared accommodation, but I've sent an email asking for single dwelling. Are they stubborn about this in these kinds of camps? I have a phone interview tonight and have all the necessary documents on hand (except the criminal background check, which is easy to obtain).
If you've worked for these types of camps, can you tell me if the pay/hours seems appropriate (that's 48 hours a week folks!)? Is one teaching all those hours, save for a lunch break? Should I try to negotiate for more or is that a waste of time? It's only four weeks so how horrible can it get that I can't endure? (I know, loaded question!)
For those that don't know me from the China forums, I've been living/working in China for six years so I know my way around an EFL classroom. I'm home for a break right now, but thought this kind of short-term job could be interesting and I could bring in a wad of $$ in a short time? Opinions? Feedback? |

I worked at a camp like this and the reason it was 6 days was because we taught MWF, and TTS. So, what ever we taught on MWF, we taught again on TTS.
This is how it went:
- 9:20 the classes begin
- Teach three 45 minute classes with a 10 minute break for each.
- 1 hour for lunch with your homeroom students.
- Teach two 45 mimute classes with a 10 minute break for each.
- One 45 minute game class.
- One 45 minute "rehersal" class with your homeroom. The rehersal is for the final day preformance.
It was easy work, though teaching on Saturday kinda sucked, but it was only for 4 weeks, the last week being all rehersal time. |

I like that idea!
Yeah, the schedule you list sounds like a fairly typical Chinese camp schedule as well. And my point exactly, it's only 4 weeks. I think I can endure and I like to put together performances anyway so that's not a chore. Any other input Korea forum regulars? |
