I'm teaching 2nd and 3rd grade middle school, and the book is horrid. I was told I can teach with something else, but I haven't a clue what to use.
I'm hoping someone here has experience with a great conversation book that is geared toward teens. Anyone? *TIA* |

Depends on their level. If they are low I would use "Side By Side"
try suplimenting it with handouts from" Word By Word"
If they are so-so I would use "Interchange" yellow Introduction
For suplimentary after school classes(small groups) use "Tell Me More"

| You can also check out Chat room for teens. It has a few mistakes, but it might give you some ideas to gear towards. I sometimes read short stories and use that as a jumping off point for more talking, though the students I do this with (2nd and 3rd) are at least intermediate level and in class by choice. I have chosen to interpret "conversation class" very liberally and change what I do based on the vibe I get from my students. |
