.............and the KT can't go without publishing an articel on foreigners and sex with Korean women. I love how the article headlines with PEDOPHILES and then degenerates in to foreigners getting tested for AIDS and then simply "drunk guys raping women". Drunk males who "rape" women are not exactly adhering to the commonly accepted definition of pedophilia the last I checked.

You gotta start reading something else xingyiman. Reading bad news ( and bad news sells) day after day will make you angry. One day you'll be livid at something or someone for no reason, and KT will have something (legit this time) to write about.

The Ministry of Justice said Thursday it will revise immigration rules to ban foreigners found guilty of raping Korean children from re-entering Korea permanently.

Uh... good?

Quote:

The government has announced a package of measures against sex offenders after the Supreme Court upheld a lower-than-expected prison term handed down to Cho Doo-soon, a 57-year-old man convicted of kidnapping and brutally raping a nine-year-old girl.

Only actual case mentioned and not a foreigner.

Quote:
The legislator did not disclose the exact number of foreigners caught for the violation.

Well, you're a reporter, right? Wouldn't it be nice if you had tried to find this information then? Instead of just printing this "fact" instead:

Quote:

``Many foreigners have been caught attempting to pass through the immigration process with forged documents, indicating rules should be intensified further, Lee said.

since your headline is

Quote:
Foreign Pedophiles to Face Permanent Deportation

and not

Quote:
Earlier this month, a group of lawmakers of the main opposition Democratic Party (DP) proposed a bill, which will make it impossible to reduce the punishment of sex offenders on the grounds that they were drunk at the time of the crime and thus unable to make sound judgment.

which covers all sex crimes, committed by all people in Korea, not just pedophilia by foreigners, of which you have not managed to mention a single case in the article you've decided to title with such a thing.

Star journalism, as always.

My friend's wife is a recruiter for hagwons. She says that ever since this rape case, she's suddenly getting tons of requests for female teachers only, because the hagwons are afraid of foreign pedophiles.

The rape case involving a KOREAN pedophile, that is.

Rolling Eyes

The logical leap involved there is truly mind-boggling.

Good Lord. And this country sincerely believes that it can move itself onto the global stage? Well, maybe they can, as a joke of a country. Laughing stock of the OECD.

Shouldn't this already be the case? Do they currently let foreigners convicted of raping minors back into the country after deportation?

Korea should have to go back to the 'pledge' stage.

That's pretty much what I was thinking. What a watershed decision. And it says more about the Korean governments' attitude toward sex crimes than it does about foreigners.

I'm starting to think if I can't find a job, I'll just apply to work for the KT. I'll get paid for writing bogus articles in English and making stuff up. I don't know shite about journalism so I think I'll fit right in.

New Visa Restrictions on Mass Murdering Korean Students

Washington announced strict new rules today on visas for Korean students after a rise in the number of Korean students who go on shooting sprees at American universities, murdering American students.

Think I'm being unreasonable or morbid? A Korean man committed an unspeakable act and now it hasn't been so much blown out of proportion as identified with the wrong group entirely. The news article does all it can to make that connection -- that this criminal case somehow is the fault of pedophile foreigners. Irresponsible and bogus journalism. This wouldn't fly at a college newspaper.

A graduate of the Kang Shin-who School of Journalism, clearly. Just what we've come to expect from the Times. A few points:

* The whole thing conflates pedophiles with other sex criminals. Why mention pedophiles in the title if you're going to talk about other acts.

* It says it will increase efforts to keep foreigners who have raped Korean children from coming back into the country. Hmm, I didn't now there were foreigners who raped Korean children, let alone foreigners who raped Korean children and who are now trying to get back into the country.

* Took six sentences for him to bring up E-2 teachers. That'd get a C- grade from Kang Shin-who, who would've put it in the damn headline. What do E-2 holders have to do with sex criminals? Nothing.

* The lawmaker who throws around "many" without giving specifics. Sorry, jackass, but if you're going to throw around those kind of allegations you'd better back them up.

* If they're going to be so strict with foreign criminals, perhaps they should also stop, you know, letting Koreans commit sex crimes with relative impunity. Three years' suspended sentence for breaking into a woman's home and raping her? Might as well hand out stamp cards.

Where did this come from? Is there a link? It seems pretty ridiculous, and I haven't heard of any new Korean students on murder sprees other than the VT incident.
