I was riding the subway yesterday and a father , mother and teenage daughter got on. As the train was going between stations the daughter gave her father the finger. Yes, the finger. The father did not think anything of it. I realize that word is not considered bad for Koreans, but I would love to have someone translate to the father what his daughter wants to do to him. Do you think mother would approve. lolol What would happen if you did that to your parents> |

Instead of squashing this person, help him/her out. The finger does not mean the person who raised it wants to have sex with the person who recieved said gesture. It's pretty much just the opposite actually!!
P.S. hochhasd - You were being sarcastic, right? |

I wouldn't think anything about it. A lot of times teenagers here say stuff to their parents in a joking way that would have gotten us slapped had we done the same think as a kid. Those of us from the belt spanked generation anyway, not you yuppie offspring. |

Yes,for the person asking me if I am a teacher, well let me ask you if you are one? I was trying to be sarcastic and give a little lesson of what the history of the word stands for and if the girl or father would have a different reaction if they knew what it meant. It was the middle finger in an upward movement and pointing straight up. If the same finger and position of such finger has a different meaning to Koreans please educate me. If you are a good teacher ,well should always be learning. |

The history of the word? You mean the gesture right? In this case the girl would be taunting her father because of the lack of two fingers. This would be the case if she was french and her father was a english longbow man.
Do you know what the gesture means? I hope you're not a teacher here as well. |

Perhaps it means next to nothing here, and that's why the father didn't give a toss? |
