Everest, out of Dongdaemun Station Exit 3, take the first left and then a right, it's on the second floor, has my vote. Good food, friendly staff, good prices.
The worst are in Gangnam, unremarkable and double the price. |

everest has almost become too popular. i still love it there, but i miss the days when you could just show up and have a reasonable chance of getting a table right away. i also think that the quality of food has dipped a bit since they became so busy. |

The owner of Taj Palace "is" Wazwan, he created Wazwan restaurant and sold it. I find the food of both restaurants to be very similar. The atmospheres are different though. Wazwan is more homey. Taj Palace is classy (without the classy prices). |

Agreed. Gangnam is overrated. About the only two things I like are the Sabarro Pizza restaurant in the food court of the COEX Mall (pretty good American pizza that tastes authentic) and watching the rich and errr? fashionable (?) in-crowd strut their stuff. Bling-bling!
Do you think that crowd would know the difference between good Indian food and bland Indian food? |

I'd agree that Everest is good. Other Good ones are:
Diwan-I-Am in Hongdae (down an alley from FF and darts bar bulls) for good selection and high quality food. Not cheap but not too expensive either.
Yeti in Hongdae (across the park) for the same with really good Vindaloo and Tandoori.
Tandoori at Ehwa Womens university is also good with 75+ items on the menu. It's run by the best shwarma guy (outside of FF and bull's darts bar) in Hongdae.
Asia-Asia at Western dome in Ilsan is also pretty nice but fairly expensive for the portions. However the food quality, service and restaurant decor are quite nice.
There are also no less than three Indian/Pakistani restuarants (an import grocery stores) in Guemchon, Paju. However none of them are very good, but still do the trick and offer something different form the norm here. |

Taj Palace and Mogul in Itaewon
Namaste (or is it just called Nepali..?) in Hongdae
All three far, far above and beyond any other i've ever had in Korea and make them look like cat food. When I bring people to them (particularly Namaste) they rave about them afterwards.
Namaste is the best of the lot. Also great decor, real Nepali chefs and so polite and friendly, food always piping hot and fresh etc.....
The ''Foriegn' restaurant in Itaewon certainly does THE WORST Indian food not just in Korea, but the whole bloody world. |

| How expensive is foreign restaurant compared to the others. For the price it seems like a good indian restaurant. Another thing is at least its real indian food. I come from New Mexico and the Mexican restaurants i have eaten at don't serve food that is Mexican food, it absolute crap by New Mexican standards. |

I sincerely do not mean to be condescending or rude.
But if you think that cr*p they serve (and this isn't one of those things where 'it's all relative and depends on taste' cuts it) is REAL Indian food you really need to try the other palces (or in fact ANY OTHER on theplanet) that I mentioned.
That place is to real Indian food (or decent food for that matter) what SPAM is to pork chops. |

| My vote goes to "Taj" in Gangnam. Truely authentic food. You can also make special requests and they will do their best to accomodate. Plus, the decor is higher quality than most hole in the walls in Itaewon. Date or business meeting worthy. However, you will pay slightly more due to this. |

Another vote for Everest.
I'm pretty sure it was the best Indian food I've had in Korea..........the Itaewon restaurants are too expensive. |

I know the restaurant in the basement near Gumcheon station, next to the "Foriegn" supermarket, the World Food supermarket about a block over on the next street (but the restaurant across from it closed) and then the other supermarket by the Catholic church. So that makes only one restaurant that I know of. Are there more that you know of? |

I don't think that there is a Namaste in Hongdae - unless they just opened. Their main location is Dongmyo, and they have one in Jongno (in Jongno Tower above Bandi and Luni Bookstore), and there newest one is in Sinsa - about a 10 minute walk from Apkujang Station.
www.namasterestaurant.co.kr
I think the Tandoori near Ewha Womens University station (line 2, exit 3, first right and a little ways up the hill on the right ...) has the best chef.
Ashoka (Hamilton Hotel, 3rd floor) used to be the best - and is still probably the best around Itaewon (with an actual trained chef).
Taj Palace used to be pretty bad when I first started going there about 6 years ago, but they've gotten better under new management.
All the Nepalese restaurants are pretty good (led by Everest and Namaste) and - according to last Saturday's Korea Times - the Nepalese community in Seoul (numbering about 10,000) is busy opening restaurants that help support its culture.
On my way to the Namaste in Jongno yesterday I noticed another Nepalese place that just popped-up near the YMCA. It's called Taj Mahal, I think. And near Everest (Dongdaemun Station, line 1, exit 3) there are a couple more Nepalese restaurants...
Still waiting for a purely vegetarian Indian restaurant, though.
