Anyone ever sent anything via surface mail (preferably to the US, but anywhere too just for a rough guide), and if so how long did it take to arrive?

edit: (Specifically surface mail as opposed to the more commonly used air mail).

Thanks,

I send letters home occasionally and get them frequently as well. South Korea <--> California, USA usually takes a week, sometimes less, sometimes more, occasionally never.

I used surface to send 5 large boxes, including books. It was still a decent sized chunk of change, but if you don't need it at home any time soon, why not save the money?

I used it once to Chicago - took 1.5 months over the summer. It was heavy and big and very inexpensive.

Maybe this is a dumb question but I've never mailed anything home yet so...if you're planning to mail a small box would you go to the Korean post office or is it better to find a DHL and send it through them?

I believe it would be cheaper through a Korean post office, though I've never used DHL.

Also - the post office sells boxes on site. They also provide complimentary bubble wrap, scissors, shipping tape, pens, etc. So you don't have to go to the post office with anything but the item(s) you want to ship.
