I am an American and in the area in which I tried to grow up, we used to have egg fights on halloween night. Fights in football stadiums, while driving etc. I am not sure if this was prevelant in just my neck of the woods or if it is a national past time. Do you Canucks partake in this or any type of useless debotchary? |

My friends and I would hide in the woods in our neighborhood and egg kids as they walked by. Good memories |

Back in my hometown in Canada, 'twas a pastime for highschool students to egg the houses of people they didn't like, so yeah, it's a general thing I'd say. |

Halloween night seemed to attract a lot of eggings, tp-ing, and pumpkin smashing. |

Thank you people!! I assumed it was a widespread North American practice. I guess it has now been confirmed. |

Actually, I had never thought of it as an 'egg fight' as in similar to a water balloon fight. I always just thought of it as a hit and run type thing. Throw an egg at someone, then bolt or drive away. I've never done that but it's pretty standard in the U.S.
I'm more into TPing. It's pretty harmless and it looks cool. |

Yes, we also did the TP and shaving cream thing. I was assuming that if everyone in NA did the egging, they probably did the TP and shaving cream as well. We also did the hit and run egg scenario, but some how it evolved into battles at the local footbal stadium and around the streets. Mano e Mano. It stings like a bastard when you get beaned in the melon and what a sticky mess!!! |

In my Canadian city, we have Devil's night, the night before Halloween. 'Tis the night where eggs and TP are flying. |

Egg was a verb in my town too. So was 'roman candle.' Ah, Hallowe'en! Love that day... |

Egg fights, TP and shaving cream are the kind of thing I saw on movies, but never in real life, and I've lived in a couple of different parts of Canada. Once in a while someone would throw an egg at a house or something, but that was more related to boredom than Halloween. |

My Canadian experience mirrors peppermint's. We heard about those sorts of antics on TV and in movies, but I've never heard of it actually happening in any of the places I lived. |

Where are you from? In southwestern Ontario quite a bit of 'egging' goes on the year round, spiking at Halloween of course. |

I lived in London and it's suburbs til I was 12, then moved to NL. Lived in Toronto for a bit as an adult, and I've never seen that kind of thing in any of those places |

I was born and raised in London too. Halloween egging was common practice from grade eight to grade ten. Among boys, at least; maybe that's why you aren't aware of it. I can also vouch that it's done in Hamilton, Waterloo, and Toronto.
edit: Maybe I'm giving the wrong impression. There weren't large organized egg fights, nor was there much TPing to speak of. But egging and other minor acts of vandalism see spikes during Halloween. |
