I think people go to Starbucks because its a cool place to be and meet people. The coffee is OK.

What high quality stuff does China have? Their milk? Koreans make more sophisticated ships and better quality ships. I don't know for sure about electronics, but right now I would buy a Samsung before I would buy a Chinese model, and what about cars. If I bought a car now I would buy a Hundae, even if I was not in Korea.

Sorry I should have specified. I was not refering to heavy industry. I really don't know much about ships and such. I was refering to small electronics. I have had more small electronics break on me here and in some of the strangest ways. Ex: some of the buttons don't work on my remote after 6 months. I have had remotes break before but usually after like 10 years of use. that being said Chinese things break too just not as often and in such unusual ways. and if chinese things do break they break right out of the box or within the first month you can probably bounce it off a wall with no harm done after that.
as for samsung the things i have owned made by them have been disappointing at best. the laptop the school gave me annoys me on a daily basis. (more for bad design than anything else) and that broken remote was a samsung too.
Concerning hyundai. I will agree it is better than any chinese or other korean brands but it is still a second rate car. I would prefer a honda, Buick, Toyota, or VW. Also Hyundai's quality seems more the exeption than the rule for Korean cars.

I eat meat but I still think the brutal killing dogs and cats is wrong, because of the way they're killed, and furthermore, dogs are different than other animals. And yes, I'm aware of the contradiction and I don't give a shit, because I know I'm right.

Unpopular enough, 'ya think?

I realize you say you are aware of the contradiction, but still I have to ask. Is the killing of cattle done more humanely somehow?

Has a cow ever sat with you round the Christmas tree when you opened your presents? Hs a cow ever sat potectively near you all day when you were sick as a kid...?

If people knew cows as well as they did dogs, then they'd feel the same.

God wants us to eat cows and Thompson's gazelles. They are immoral animals that run at any sign of danger to leave the weakest of them to die. Dogs will give their life for a human. There is a difference between you not seeing a difference and a difference not existing.

1. I don't have some abstract objection to Starbucks, like I might with Walmart. I just don't like their coffee and think it's overpriced, just as most coffee shops are overpriced.

2. Is Tim Horton's in Canada like kimchi in Korea? I'm not allowed to say it's really not so great and there's other places to have coffee too?

3. Reagan was smarter than he was given credit for. He took advantage of the "I'm only a doddering old man" bit when it suited him.

4. Most education faculty courses are pretty much worthless and do little or nothing to prepare teachers.

5. The Black Plague of 1348-50 was one of the best things to happen to Europe. The resulting labor shortages gave us printing, humanism, the renaissance, the reformation, and the industrial revolution.

Unpopular opinions I want to say in my classes

6. Why do you think you are entitled to go to Harvard someday? Why is it that I am a barely tolerated guest in your country but you feel you have a right to go there? I'm not entitled to go to Harvard.

7. If you can't stay awake, why did you come to class? Do you think I cannot see you?

8. Not everyone deserves or should be in university.

Opinion or fact? My brother, who did not attend university, pointed out something obvious: if people are training to become teachers, shouldn't they spend more time teaching? Some of the classes are worse than useless; they can make you stupider.

Entrance standards should be much more strict. For Liberal Arts students a general 'knowledge' test should be given and if you can't meet that, then you don't belong.

College SHOULD be for the intellectually minded. It stuns me how many of my fellow students had no books aside from their text books at home and did not spend any of their spare time reading books for pleasure.
