I've been hearing that the gov't might shut down all public schools to try and slow down the flu that's going around. Has anyone heard when a decision might be made? |

I heard something similar, except that the government is scared of the fallout from doing so. They are probably just as scared of the mothers as the school principals are
Here in my small town I'm told that the local elementary school has over 300 kids absent today (about 1600 in the school). Crazy. |

My district coordinator posted about it on Facebook this morning, so the conversation is definitely getting down to the school level - whether or not it's actually going to happen is still being decided, apparently, but he said we should know by the end of the week.
Not sure what they'll do about the upcoming tests though - isn't the Korean SAT in November? |

I haven't heard this rumor, but after teaching 6th grade all morning, I hope to god it's true. |

I've had between 4 and 8 students absent from each class thus far this week. Which if it's the same in every class throughout the school that's 150-300 kids off from a school of 1700. |

I heard today that one of the schools down here 'took their vacation early due to the flu". They had 70 students absent out of about 300 total students before closing.

one of my co-teachers mentioned this today, but she also said our school and teachers aren't happy about this idea because third year exams are coming up in November.
i have a feeling that after third year exams, my school might shut down for a little while. |

This better not mess up winter vacation, that's all I'm saying.
The flu is spreading fast, so you'd think that after a few weeks all of the kids will have had it and then it can get back to business as usual. |

I've heard a rumor that there will be manditory vaccinations coming in mid-November.
I don't know what they'll say when I refuse. |

Hi,
Yeah that makes sense only it is not going away, comes back again.
Messing up all the NT's travel plans would I guess be an inevitable benefit...
We'll have to see what they decide. |

Same, I really do not want to get it. I guess they could fire us, but I wonder if they would. |

They'll say: "Look over there!"

I'm crossing my fingers. I haven't heard much news about this. It would be nice to have a week or more off. I just question what the shutdown will actually do to stem the spread of the flu. |
